We cruise on Disney Cruise Line on a 7 night cruise every other year. We will be on the Fantasy this year from Sept. 9-16. Please help me remember. Does our cruise two years from then have to start before Sept. 9 (beginning of cruise) or Sept. 16 (last day of cruise)?

It's 24 months from the reservation booking. So if you book on the 15th, two years from that date.

Has to start within 24 months of the day you book it as I understand it. So I don't book until the final day of the cruise.

I'm cruising next Monday on the dream and I'm interested in doing the onboard booking. If the cruises two years out aren't posted, how exactly do we book? I've been on one disney cruise before but did not book onboard. I hope I can get a good deal! TIA :-)

Book a placeholder. Then when the cruise you want is released the deposit is applied to what you book (reservation number stays the same).

  • A placeholder booking requires a $250 deposit. This $250 deposit is part of the deposit for the cruise you eventually book.
  • You can book up to 2 staterooms with your placeholder. ($250 for each)
  • You get the same benefits as someone booking an actual cruise. (10% off the cruise rate and an OBC of $100 for cruises less than 7 days, $200 for 7 days or more.)
  • The placeholder is good for exactly 24 months. If you don't use it in that time, you will get your deposit back.

That sounds perfect! Thanks everyone!

If you book 2 placeholders on the same cruise can you book 2 separate cruises? Or do you have to use them for the same cruise(2 cabins)?

The onboard booking perks are only applicable for up to two rooms on the same future cruise. You can't book one room on one cruise and one room on another cruise. Well, you can, but the onboard booking perks will only be applicable to one of the bookings.

Thanks PrincessShmoo. We have friends that swear they book 2 separate cruises. Maybe I should ask if they really get the 10% off both.

If your friends have two separate home addresses, they probably did. It's up to 2 rooms on the same future cruise per household address.

I thought I read somewhere that it's not a good a idea to go on the last day because that's generally the busiest time, which means long lines. How do you typically get around that?

I go as soon as they open up. So if we're at castaway cay on the last day and future bookings opens at 3, I'm there at 2:45 with my Disney vacation account number. I've never waited more than a few minutes once they open. Other option would be to request a quote then turn it in on the last day.

So, presumably if I book our placeholder on Sept. 7th, 2018 (the last full day of our cruise), I will get the benefits for our Alaskan 2020 cruise that would set sail on Sept. 7th?
