Cruisin' MAYniacs - May 14-17, 2009

WOOHOOOO!!! Just booked our airfare on Continental-Austin to MCO for 800$ round trip for all of us!!

I have been checking daily and that was about 500$ less than yesterday. So if you are still waiting to buy, go check your local sites!

Maria I would LOVE to see a pic of your matte!

My daughter has her dance recital that day so we will be in a slight scurry, but not too bad.

:)

Kat

116 days!!!

My daughter does dance, too! She is on the competetive dance troupe and does tap, hip hop, jazz, and ballet. :goodvibes So you're a DIsney Mom and a Dance Mom, too!!!!:dance3:

Cheryl....that is awesome about your airfare. Can't believe one day made that big of a difference in price. We are about 10 hrs from the port so we will be driving. I am originally from Iowa and my dad is still there and we usually go up there every year and it is a 14 hr drive so a 10 hr drive is a breeze. :thumbsup2

Aside from getting off long enough to maybe check out the straw mkt I think we are going to stay on the ship the day at Nassau. I just want to get off the boat long enough to say I have been to Nassau. :goodvibes With it only being a three day cruise we want to get as much out of the ship as we can.

Let me tell ya with it being as cold as it has been the last few days....May cannot get here soon enough!!

Shannon

I hve been to Nassau before on a girls cruise (now that was fun!) but Reece and the boys haven't been.

I know alot of people don't like Nassau, but I personally LOVED it. Because our seas were so bad getting there (we went in Nov of 06) we didn't have much daylight time there.

I think our plan will be to take a taxi to the Wyndham and swim for a few hours, then we will probably head to Atlantis for the next few hours. Every time those darn Atlantis commercials come on TV the boys get so excited saying "Mom, can we go there someday??" Lord it's all I can do to not tell them.::laughing:

We have early seating for dinner, but I'm not going to be in a great hurry to get back. I'd like to end the day by walking downtown, (I personally love the straw market:eek: ) and letting the boys see the government buildings, the staircase, etc.

Now our rainy day plan will probably include the pirate museum instead of going to the beach. But let's cross our fingers we have nothing but sun:dance3:

The only thing I am worried about is that I have so much stuff planned for Nassau that the boys will be:
1. Too tired to see Toy Story
2. Too tired to do the Pirate Party!

Anyone interested in a spoiler should do a search on youtube for the toy story wonder. It is incredible and I can't wait!!

I guess another option would be to skip dinner, order room service and let the boys sleep until the pirate party, but then Reece and I would have to flip a coin to see who does boy duty and who goes to see Toy Story!

Maria I would LOVE to see a pic of your matte!

I thought I already posted this earlier today, but I can't find it!!:confused3 I must not have hit "Send."

Here you go . . .

We celebrated the kids birthdays with friends last night (both Jan. birthdays) and I just had to share the cake I ordered for the occasion. Friends of ours have cruised Disney before, too, so the cake was hit!!

Good evening from Texas!

Kat I would LOVE to see a clip from the Pirate's Party!

Shannon I am so glad you got the kiddos all squared away with school.

I haven't told the boy's teachers yet, but I don't think I will have any problem (or so I hope!:) )

I just ordered my FE and character pillowcases for the boys (jedi mickey) to take to guest services and have signed. Is anyone going to do picture mattes to have signed? Kat-did you get any on your other cruises?

Gotta run and get the youngsters in bed.

Have a great evening!

:cool1: Cheryl

Cheryl,

Video clips are posted!!

I did get things signed ... and it worked out wonderfully. I don't have any photos of them but it's along the same line as Maria's that she posted. Shoot, I don't even have a photo in it yet, LOL.

Pillowcases are great ideas as well. If you have any books that the kids love that are Disney, they will sign them. They will sign just about anything so be creative!!

Kat I really appreciate all the links!
Makes me even more excited. Is it May yet?:rotfl: :rotfl:

We will be joining all of you on the May 14th cruise!

Let me introduce my crew:

DH-Tom(42)-Loves Disney..works and travels a lot...LOVES to do Disney power weekends for the kids...he will be the one with the big goofy smile and tears in his eyes boarding the ship.

DS#1-Erick(18)-1st time cruiser-loves Disney, high school senior, refuses to tell us if this cruise will interfere with his senior exams(not listed on school calendar)....just happy to have us actually plan something early enough to actually to finally do a cruise(we are last minute planners) before he decides on college or the military(this apparently is a secret too). He is all about food...mass quantities of food.

DS#2-Tommy(6)-Our Disney honeymoon cruise souvenir from 2001...likes Disney....not fond of the walking in the parks..maybe a cruise will be more his speed.

DS#3-Wyatt(4 turning 5 shortly after cruise) insane..loves Disney, endless energy, the ship might be too small for him.

Beth-family friend(44) helps me pick on DH, likes Disney...had not visited parks for over 20 years until we started dragging her along last year...she is still taking everything in..even Epcot is new for her.

Me-Stacy(37 by time we cruise) Disney freak.

We originally booked a category 4 for just the family(DH,me and the boys) this past Saturday night. But DH started feeling badly that we had not thought to ask Beth if she would like to be included....so at 9am this morning I switched us to 2 connecting category 6 cabins and informed Beth that she had to find a dog sitter(poor Loki) she was going on a cruise. BTW our phone rep was June at Disney cruise line...she was awesome..changing cabins and adding a person and another cabin was way too easy...it could be dangerous on the wallet.

The 2 younger kids hopefully won't know about the cruise until we pull into port....I'm not worried about the 18 year old missing school at this point they are home waiting for graduation until June anyway, the 4 year old has some flexibility in pre-k...and I am going to have set the bar a little higher on the 6 year old for staying home sick now until the end of the year since he is limited to 10 sick days and we have used 4. As far as letting the school know...ehh I don;t know .... it's only 2 days missed during the 2.5 weeks before summer vacation..I think I am just going to send a note in when we get back about a last minute trip courtesy of daddy who is barely home due to work..it might go over a bit better than the 'I was sick of school and went on a cruise instead' note I am tempted to write.

I am excited about making door magnets and fish extenders and deliveing goodies....I think I am going to do one big fish extender between the 2 rooms since I think we are going to treat the two rooms as a suite or I may do a boys FE and girls FE.

DH and DS#2 did the pirate thing for Halloween ....complete with Jack Sparrow hats...so I am tempted to go all out for Pirate night....we'll see how ambitous I get...I might poop out after fish extenders though..lol.

Can you tell I am excited...the thing I miss most about trips to Disney now that we are local is the lack of planning...no folders, no binders, no list of confirmation numbers...now I have a ton of stuff to do before we cruise....we are going to bite the bullet and get passports since we can probably work in a cruise a year ...DH has his from 2001, mine needs to be updated with my married name and the kids and Beth need to get theirs .....it's only three days...but 3 days is all we can really spare right now with DH's work schedule..I'll gladly take 3 days on a Disney cruise over most anything else!

Welcome aboard Stacy!

Glad you guys are coming with us. Two of your boys are very close in age to mine.

I can tell how excited you are from your great post. What a great friend you are to book a trip for Beth as well.

I hope that everyone has had a great first day of the week!

So how big is our group now?:goodvibes :goodvibes

Welcome Stacy!!! I love watching our group grow!!!!

Cheryl....the start of our week has been great. We actually did cruise shopping today. DH has decided that he needs those tropical button up shirts for each day of the cruise so we went to Kohls to check out their selection of shirts. I am not a big fan of them but I am a supportive wife. :cheer2:

Oh and we also went to Sam's and I picked up a soft side cooler to take some drinks on board. :cool1: Anyone else do this???

We are slowly getting ready! :goodvibes

Hope everyone has a great week and stays warm!!!! :wave2:

Hi all! My family and I will also be on the Wonder on May 14. We're from a small town near Kansas City, MO. DH and I have cruised once before (Carnival) and we've been to the World twice, but this will be our first Disney cruise!:hyper: I couldn't resist the kids free promotion, and finally talked my DH into it.

We are: me, Jenni, 36; DH Damon 36; DS Colton 11; and DD Jaylen 9.

Looks like we have a lot of kids in the same age group!

I wouldn't call myself a Disney fanatic but I do love all things Disney, especially that feeling you get on a Disney vacation. My husband could really care less but he humors me sometimes. :confused3 I lurked on the DIS boards while planning our two trips to DW, but this is my first time posting. I'm so excited to be planning a Disney cruise, even if it is just 3 nights!

Welcome to the group Jenni!!! My ds is 11 and dd is 9 too!!! Looks like we have something in common....we have done two DW trips and this is our first cruise!!!

We are so excited! :cheer2: :cheer2:

We will actually probably be planning a trip to Kansas City before too long. My DH is a HUGE BBQ fan and says now that we have done the Memphis BBQ thing we HAVE to go to Kansas City...Ha!Ha! We usually go to Iowa once a year so he wants to detour through Kansas City on the next trip. I am really surprised we haven't done it before now!

Anyway....just wanted to welcome you! We have a great group!

Shannon

Thanks for the warm welcome Shannon! :wave2: It does look like we have a lot in common. Where in Iowa do you visit? We're actually north of KC, closer to IA.

You said you were going to carry on a soft-sided cooler, is that for "adult" beverages? We were able to bring some alcohol on our Carnival cruise but didn't know if that was allowed on Disney...
