Cruise's (Chris) Accountability/Sap Journal :) (comments welcome)

Hi Chris! Sounds like you are doing really, really well. I agree with other's who've indicated that the scale doesn't always paint an accurate picture of progress. I've gone whole weeks of working out and eating well and haven't seen a dip. Then, all of a sudden, it happens. It will happen for you as well...the main thing is that you are sticking to your plan even on days when you're feeling down...and that is a HUGE accomplishment. Congratulations! :)

Have a great time camping!!!

Hi Chris!!

Glad you are feeling better today!! I hope that you have a great time getting away this weekend. :goodvibes

(p.s. Nice to meet you Erin! :maleficen )

8/5/05

Well, we came home today so I could go workout and go to a doc appointment. To my surprise - very HUGE surprise - this morning I was down another 3.5 pounds for a total of 4 so far for this month. Let me tell you - it was an absolute shock. Given that I wasn't feel very good the other day and yesterday I ate what I thought was a better choice than others when I had to eat lunch out (had to grab something quick due to short lunch and errands I had to so I stopped at Culver's and got a tuna salad sandwich (which to my surprise had cheese on it and they grilled the bun) and a small serving of cole slaw (thought it would be better than fries) and then found out even though it was better than some, probably not the best choice) but wasn't that great I could not believe the scale this morning. I even got on it about 4 times. The first number said I was down 5.5 pounds and that just was not believable to me. So I got on it again, same number. So I got on it again and it was the number that would put me 3.5 pounds down. So I got on again just to check same as the 3rd number and got on a 5th time and same as the last two. So I took it. You would not believe how that has turned my mood around.

So went to the doc to make sure I was doing okay and talk about my working out and weight loss and according to their scale (which was only 1 pound higher than my scale and I had just worked out and drank 32 ounces of water) I have lost 17 pounds since my last visit. But I'm not going to go by that because I believe in using the scale that you start with - WW always said only take weights on one scale and use those.

So this puts me at 14 pounds down now. I am only 10 pounds away from weighing what I did when I got married almost 6 years ago and to me - that is a big deal because I never thought I'd get this off again. I was in the mindset that I was going to remain heavy the rest of my life and I just needed to deal with it and be happy. I talked to him about some pain that I'm having in my left knee after I workout and he said I may just be straining it and doing what I should have done a long time ago - move it back into place. When I was in 8th grade and for each grade after up until 1988 (the year after I graduated) I had popped my knee out of place. Right now my knee ball is actually to the left of where it should be. The docs didn't want to do surgery and an ortho doc had been trying to get me to pop it back into place which I was too chicken to do. So he thinks that at some point it might pop back into place once I get some weight off and build up more muscle in there (sorry to gross anyone out) and that it's just working really hard right now. He said to keep it up and we'll see what my blood work shows (which I can't get until Tuesday because I had to eat before working out) and we'll go from there.

I'm so happy - things are finally looking up. All the good foods are ready for us to take back to the camper and eat healthy this weekend. We even packed up and took the bikes with us. Tonight won't be easy - we're going to the same fish fry place we went too two weeks ago but I may be okay with what I eat. Rest of time we are cooking our own food.

Well everyone have a good weekend and I'll catch up with everything on Sunday!!!!! THANKS YOU EVERYONE!

Keep on

Hello everyone!!! Thanks for the words.

Camping was very nice this weekend - weather was awesome, got a little sun (with sunscreen on); needed to read the 5th Harry Potter book and got a good start on that. My dad ended up coming over on Friday and getting a spot that someone reserved but didn't show up at so he got his camper and spent the weekend with us - which is great because we don't get to spend a lot of time with my dad.

I did pretty good with eating although I haven't updated my food log. When we went to the fish fry I had 3 chicken fingers and about 4 ounces of fries and I broke down and ate 4 roasted marshmallows for a snack during our fire (no smores, just couldn't put it in my mind to have those yet). Last night I made steaks and corn on the cob (very yummy sweet corn) and dad went home and picked some fresh green beans and dug some fresh potatoes and those were SOOOOOOO yummy. So I had about 1 1/2 cups of green beans and 3 small pieces of potato (about 2 ounces). This morning we ended up going out to eat for breakfast and I had one pancake, a sausage patty, and one of dd's biscuits with about 2 ounces of sausage gravy. Haven't eaten much else today because I'm just not hungry. Going out for chinese for dinner so I'll consume my calories and everything there. I did get on the scale before I got in the shower today (after eating breakfast) and the scale remained the same so I'm assuming I may have had a little bit more of a loss. We'll see what it says later in the week (not getting on tomorrow after eating chinese).

So all in all it was a great weekend - can't wait to go camping in October when the weather is cooler and fall has arrived. Now we have to start planning more for our Disney trip since we talked quite a bit about it this weekend!!!! I'm getting excited.

This week is hell week at work with the new staff starting. I'll have a little down time so I hope to keep up with journals. Oh, I didn't exercise yesterday at all despite taking my bike. I think I really needed a down day and I took it.

Oh - and I'm really starting to see a change in my clothes. I put on a pair of shorts that I've had for a couple of years and have still worn them even though they were pretty tight. They are two sizes smaller than I've been wearing - they fit nicely right now. Most of my other shorts are getting too big as are my tshirts - I'll be in the clothes dd is wearing before too long and will fortunately have something to wear to Florida so all we have to do is get new clothes for her. We have a wedding to go to in a couple of weeks and it'll be cool to see how my dress fits - I told dh I might have to get a new dress because I think my skirt is going to be too big. This next weekend we are having a family gathering to celebrate my fil's 75th bday and it'll be interesting to see if they recognize that I've lost any weight. We'll see.

Everyone have a good rest of the day!!!!

Keep on
Chris

Hi Chris!

Glad you had a great weekend!!! I hope that your week from hell isn't too bad! I'll be thinking about ya (even though you don't like my favorite restaurant in Epcot!!! hahaha!) I hope that everyone notices your weight loss at your FIL's b-day party!

Talk to you soon!
Mike :goodvibes

Thanks Mike!!!!

Oh and someone asked me about Sap in my title - I tend to get sappy at times, well more weepy, but sappy is a better word so I don't sound like such a cry baby :) But I get into these moods where I'm sappy, like I was a couple of weeks ago. So, no, I'm not a software program (I think that was Storygirl) :) ROFL

Congrats on the weightloss! :sunny: Its all about how your clothes fit, & I see your fitting into those smaller shorts. Great job! I was laughing reading about you getting off & on those scales. Sometimes the news is so good you just can't believe that scale! I weigh in at my grocery store & I don't even wear earrings when I know I'm going to weigh myself. However, I can't got off & on because its in the front of the store by the checkout & anyone in that area can see it. When I lost weight several years ago & I was about 140lbs I was standing on the scale. An older lady was watching me & loudly exclaimed for all to hear. "140!!!! I would have guessed you weighed 125, you don't look like you weigh that much!" It took a lot of nerve for me to get back on that scale when I restarted dieting. I wish they'd move it back by the carts again. That way only people entering the store can see the numbers. It'd almost be easier for me to buy a scale at home but I know I'd obsess to much! Great job on the weightloss & take care of those knees!

The camping trip sounds great! My mouth was watering at the mention of fresh greenbeans and potatoes-yummy!!! That was my favorite fromt he garden growing up.

I miss camping, actually. It's too hot here in the summer, and by the time it cools down, I'm back in school. Maybe we'll be able to find a weekend in Oct. BTW- if you ever consider camping at Ft. Wilderness at WDW, it's a great, great campground.

Congrats on the shorts! Isn't it nice to see that kind of progress. Definitely worthy of a new dress, I think ;)

Have a great day!

Hey Chris!

Sounds like you had a great weekend! :cloud9: I hope the week ahead is a good one for you! :goodvibes

Congrats on the smaller shorts! Isn't that a great feeling? :goodvibes :Pinkbounc

Have a wonderful day today! :sunny:

You are doing so well with your weight loss! CONGRATULATIONS! That is one thing I love about the boards is being inspired by others! :flower:

8/8/05 #1

Okay - well I broke down and did it. I got on the scale this morning - it had been since Thursday and I was dying to see how bad a gain I had after eating and going over, which I really did, my calories, fat grams and carbs this weekend. Well, the scale was kind and I lost .5 pounds. I won't get on again until Friday morning (and I probably won't because I'm not going to have a lot of time too - we'll see).

So I'll take it.

This morning our new training class started and so we had a breakfast to welcome them. There were some breads that I didn't like, some fruit that I know I'm not eating now, some juice (that I brought in) and some yogurt and Krispy Kreme's. So I didn't get to join them until 9:30 due to some computer problems I was dealing with, which is the usual time I eat my breakfast when I'm at work (and generally at home too). I walk in there and try to decide what I'm going to do - am I going to eat my food or eat what's there. So I went and grabbed a fat free yogurt. Was still hungry and have been DYING for a Krispy Kreme. So I went and got one - I cut it in half and only had half (which actually was very close in my counts as to what a fruit and oatmeal bar would have been). I cut into the wrong one too - it was custard filled one and I was hoping for a creme filled one so it wasn't the greatest. Clearly my tastes are really changing, which I have noticed a lot lately. There are things that I use to eat that are just not appealing to me and things that I eat now that I crave - like yogurt and my celery/carrots for my break snack. This IS a VERY good thing!!!!

Now the one thing that I'm dying for is a hamburger. I haven't had one since before July 1. And not from McD's or Burger King - one that I cook on the grill. So one night this week I might just make one. I've got some 98% lean ground sirloin in the freezer. We'll see.

Hope everyone has a good day - it's Jazzercise night and I really need it (again, something I find myself craving these days is when I don't get to work out). I'll get to journals during my lunch and hope to keep up this week!!!! :)

Keep on
Chris
