Cruise to nowhere?

I'll be boarding the Dream on Friday. The forecast for both Saturday (Nassau) and Sunday (CC) includes some pretty high winds. I know winds are part of the consideration for docking at CC, but do they play a part at Nassau as well? Does anyone know whether both ports have ever been missed? If so, any chance they'll sail us to a less windy area (provided it's within reasonable range) to allow for more pleasant days at sea? Hoping for the best as I know the forecast can change rapidly, but trying to prepare for the worst. Thanks!

High winds and rough seas can be a factor for porting anywhere. The captain will do his best to port. If it's not possible, you may get additional sea days, or an alternative port.

Don't know if both ports have ever been missed on the same cruise.

Thanks. Should be an adventure! Currently, winds are forecasted between 25 - 35 mph both days, both places. Even more reason to hit the AquaDuck immediately after boarding - it may be our only chance! I'm sure we'll have a great trip in any event.

One of our sea days on the Fantasy earlier this month had crazy winds. They were only allowing 2 person rides on the AquaDuck and not allowing single riders. The line wasn't bad but I was standing on the stairs right before you enter the smoke stack and I felt like I was going to blow away! Super scary...and it didn't help that I am terrified of heights.

Super scary is right! I don't think DS6 will be up for that (nor will his mom ).

If you haven't been on it though, you HAVE to try it at least once. I think I ended up riding 5 times ha ha so much fun. The heights aren't bad if you don't have to wait in line and can get in the stack quick.

Keep in mind that there's a difference between actual winds and perceived winds. Kind of like wind chill. Basically if the ship is sitting still, with the wind over the bow, with a wind speed of 15 knotts,the wind feels like a 15 breeze. If the ship is moving into or close to into the same wind, that same 15 Knott wind now feel like it's 30 or better depending on the ships speed. We've been on cruises before where there's been a 10 Knott breeze coming over the stern and with the ship moving at10 knots forward, the air felt still. Another time we went for a walk around the jogging track after dinner, and on 1 side of the ship we felt a nice breeze and the other felt like a hurricane.

Nassau seems fairly sheltered port. I think you'll probably make that. I know CC has wind issue. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

This poses a good question. Has a Disney ship ever NOT been able to dock at Nassau? I've never seen a post saying this (certainly could have missed it).

We docked at both Nassau and CC! When docking at Nassau, all passengers were told to stay seated as the ship would be rocking side to side. Very windy and cloudy on Nassau day, but we had planned to stay on the ship, so it didn't impact our plans much. We got in on the first try at CC. Still very windy and the Aquaduck was closed mid-afternoon due to wind. I was talking with one of the CMs on our last night and she said the crew was betting we'd miss CC. She was very surprised we got in. She was also surprised we had fireworks on pirate night. Apparently the captain was able to position us just right to allow for them. Lots of folks weren't feeling well during the cruise. We had rocky seas and high winds the entire trip, but it was still an awesome time.
