I love the use of humor in situations like this. To me, laughing is a great stress reliever. Never thought about them not having a life vest big enought for Mickey! LOL I could see them asking you to use the hand sanitizer as you board the lifeboats!

Our our first cruise my daughter and I went around the ship quoting lines from Titanic. On the grand stairwell as I kissed her hand "...I saw this once in a nickelodian..." Or during the lifeboat drill, "This ship is unsinkable....God Himself could not sink this ship....these lifeboats are a waste of good deck space....far more luxurious than the Mauritania...Daddy, it's a ship..."

Great photos! I was on the cruise after you. We were left at the (alternate) pier too early by our car service Sunday morning and watched people disembark from your trip. So many people looked exhausted and worn out! We heard from the crew that it was "the worst ever", and that the housekeeping staff had taken your luggage Friday night as usual, only to have to return it on Saturday and then take it again! That's a LOT of work for them!

We lost that first night on the ship and they had to cancel the stop at St. Maarten (the furthest island). Everything else was on schedule. We were given free tickets to EPCOT for Saturday and a hotel room for Saturday night. Then we were given a $100.00 per cabin and $20.pp onboard credit once onboard and also they will refund 20% of your fare to the original payment method. I thought that was pretty generous. Future bookings were 20% off and a $200. onboard credit, and from what I saw, the rebooking desk was always busy.

Something that dawned on us - the servers/cabin attendants probably lost tips, too. Since people had tipped on Friday night in anticipation of leaving the next morning and then they didn't get their "new" people in. I'm sure some people did tip again when they left on Sunday, and I know that many people on our cruise tipped for the full 7 days even though we were only on for 6, but for folks whose main income is from tips, even 1 missed day probably hurts.

The Magic and the Wonder left together on Sunday afternoon - a very rare circumstance. They had their dueling ship's horns going - pretty neat to see!

I thought the same thing about the servers. They must have lost out quite a bit. What a shame.

I was on the "cruise that never ended" and it never occured to me to tip more when I was on the ship.I only thought about it on my way home! I was in such a panic that our flights home were going to cost us over $1000, it was really all I could think of! Also, I am SOOOOO glad I didn't cancell my flights. So many people were cancelling and trying to rebook(at a fee, of course).

Ended up, once we got to the airport on Sunday ( for free by the way- we did not have to pay for transfers and there were 5 of us) Jet Blue put us on a flight the next day( at no cost to us!). All we payed for was a night at the Hyatt (apparently at a discounted rate-$139). Jet blue offered to put us on standby on Sunday, but couldn't guarentee that we would all be on the same flight. We opted to pay for the hotel to have reserved seats on the flight on Monday. The way I look at it, we got two extra days of vacation for $139.00. Not bad!

This is all too familiar to November 30, 2008, when the ship was hit by a storm while waiting to leave Cape Canaveral and broke away from the dock.

The ocean @ CC looks so vicious... No wonder Serenity Bay was covered by sea weed the week after.

I was on the "Cruise that never ended" as well - love that title, btw!
Great pictures. I have some with the waves going over the rocks early on Saturday that are cool as well. I was also up at 3am looking out my verandah and watched 5 shore crew pull in new mooring lines for the ones that were broken - at that point, there was only 1 left on the last pilon. My heart was in my throat watching them try to pull in these massive lines with waves crashing all around them. Brave souls!

As for tipping - we did remember in time and tipped our host and our servers extra for the day.

My boys and I did not fly out til Monday anyway, so we were ok, but my cousin and mom were due to go out on Sunday, so they caught the Disney transfer (no offer was made to comp them for that - so we are going to call and see if we can get reimbursed) After the confusion at the port, they missed the plane by 10 min... It only cost them $40 to rebook and we are trying to get that back from the insurance company.

Overall it was a great trip and since I had already booked for the Dream, it was an added bonus to get 20% off...not just 10%. I just wish I had seen the ships passing as they left on Sunday.. watching the video made me all teary-eyed! LOL
