For anyone who is considering whether or not to book a DCL cruise, I'd encourage you to do it. My back story: I had always hated the idea of cruising - thought it would be too passive, too boring, with bad food, cheesy entertainment, etc. Plus I was worried about getting sick onboard and worried about motion sickness. I've travelled extensively throughout the world (Europe, the Middle East, South America, the Caribbean, Canada, Mexico, Soviet Union and of course throughout the U.S.) and cruising was the last thing I ever wanted to do. We wanted to go somewhere for our kids' school break in February but we couldn't agree on anything. Some of the things we considered: an eco-adventure in Costa Rica, Chile, Las Vegas, London. My husband has always been more open to cruising than I have because his parents cruised a lot and loved it so he suggested a Disney Cruise. At that point I was sick of trying to come up with something so I checked out what was available. Now, I usually research the heck out of everywhere we go but I simply checked out Travelocity, saw that we could get a cabin on the 4-night cruise on the Wonder for our dates (Feb 18 - 22) and booked it. I didn't want to do the 7 night because I was concerned that we might not like it and then would be stuck there too long. This was about six weeks prior to the trip so it really was rather last minute. Afterwards I discovered this board and got a lot of valuable information. Anyway, to sum up a long story, we had the time of our lives and all agreed it was one of our best ever vacations. The kids (ages 13 and 14) loved it and thought it was really special. We can't wait to go again and will definitely be cruising in the future, on DCL but maybe on Royal Caribbean as well. (The 13-year old wants to try the rock climbing wall they have on that ship).
So for anyone who is hesitant, give it a try! The trip exceeded all expectations. And anything that can get my 14-year-old excited and asking to go again is worth whatever the cost!
