Booking through GS instead of the app is exactly what causes this problem. That's what happened to me and we've had a bunch of other posters saying the same thing. It might also sometimes happen with the app? But it definitely happens a lot with the GS bookings. We got off the ship on July 8 and have not yet heard back. I was told it would take 7-10 days to process and I waited before looking into this because it was the Med cruise and figured it might take longer... I guess it would be to best to follow up on it to ensure it's not lost. I had booked the placeholder through guest services as it wasn't working through the app. Hope this gets sorted out!
We got off the ship on July 18 and I sent an email to my TA that I had booked a placeholder just for her info. She let me know on July 22 that DCL had no record of it and they were researching. We got it resolved on July 23 and I received email confirmation. We got off the ship on July 8 and have not yet heard back. He probably did his part right. There seems to be a problem communicating the onboard reservations back to the shoreside systems. The same just happened to me on the Wish MV. I went and booked through guest services thinking it would be better because I had had the app placeholder glitch already happen. After the sweet man at guest services assured me it had been done manually--well nope! On the phone for 2 hours 55 minutes before finally getting to shoreside services and them having having to reissue me one!
Thanks! To clarify, if both placeholders are under my name, I can use one for family/friends in the other room on the same future cruise. What about if we only need one room on the next cruise? Can I use the second placeholder for another cruise as long as I'm in the room?Yes, you can put other family or friends into the 2nd placeholder room when you finally book. The rule is both placeholders need to be used for the same future cruise.
You can try, but my TA tried a couple of months ago and dcl would not let me. I was successful doing it in the past, but now they seem to be enforcing this rule again. I booked a placeholder b2b for next spring like this. Then I tried again to book another placeholder b2b for the fall and was turned down. My TA even talked to a supervisor and still couldn’t do it. I booked the placeholder for my daughter but she decided not to go. It’s often I have the second one available and was always allowed to use it.Thanks!
