This is our first cruise ever (Jan 11th Eastern) can anyone tell me about the security on cruise ships. Does DCL scan bags, use metal detectors like the airports?
Thanks

:)

Hi!

Yes, when you enter the cruise terminal at Port Canaveral you will put your carry on items through an x-ray machine and you will go through a metal detector. It's exactly the same as at the airport.

Plus all checked baggage is xrayed and sniffed by the pups.

ein265 - we were lucky enough to have one of the officers dine at our table. This was pre 9/11. He happened to be in charge of security. He mentioned that there were "several" plainclothes security people around the ship. He asked if we had seen them. Everyone said no; and he said,"Good they are doing their jobs right." So they are there - you just don't know where. Now that I think about it they are probably in the terminal too.
