Anyone with cruise incentive info . . .
thinking of doing this. Do you have to choose your sail date at the time of points purchase? If not, how long do you have? Is it likely that there is no availability on the date(s) you want to go? If so, are you just out of luck?

I don't believe you have to choose your dates when you buy. However, I read on one of the threads today that there are not as many dates as there were--it seems that many may have already sold out.

If you are really interested in choosing the cruise as an option, I would find out the dates from your guide before you buy or consider one of the other options.

Good luck!

I called Friday to book our cruise and the first two dates we wanted were already sold out.

Well crap, that means now I have to decide.

Can anyone tell me what length and dates are already sold out??

We were told that if a date was sold out for the outside stateroom you could upgrade for a fee to a higher level room. I am sure you could also take a lower level room.

I have the list of all dates but not what is still available.

You cannot book at purchase of your points. You will receive a voucher shortly after closing.

You will receive a voucher when your contract actually closes (approximately 3-4 weeks after you sign your paperwork). You will then call the number on the voucher and book your cruise. For what it's worth, the cruise dates are all non-summer/non-peak sailings in 2009 and 2010 so if you have children who will be cruising with you, you will have to take them out of school. We initiallly chose the cruise incentive but, when the higher point discounts were released on April 1st, we decided to just go with the discounted points. We're already pulling DD out of school for 6 days in September for a cruise so I know the school would be doubly furious if we did it again. :rolleyes1 Good luck!! :goodvibes

That's good parenting!! :yay:

We pull our kids out of school twice a year for vacations. As soon as the grades slip, we are done with that. So far A's and B's!!!!

Well, I tend to think that it's good parenting too but, in our county, if a child misses more than 10 days of school (excused or unexcused), the county calls DFACS. So, with the 6 days that we are pulling her out in September (early in the school year) we are going to have to be very careful for the rest of the year. Our county seems to have gone a bit over the deep end with its policies. It's very anti-vacationing-at-Disney-during-non-peak-season.

Yes, we are looking at the same deal and are now just thinking of taking the cash discount. It is not worth the same value as a 4 or 7 day cruise but it looks like a challenge to find a date that will work with kiddos.

I just got my certificate, and the only dates it is good for are in fall 2010.

WOW - that's unreal. When we bought in March and were opting for the cruise (before we decided to change to the discounted point price in April), we had about 7 cruises to choose from for both 2009 and 2010 (since we bought 220 points, we qualified for a 4-night cruise). We actually were contemplating buying 270 points because then we actually would have been able to get the 7-night cruise that we've booked for September 26, 2009 for free.

I guess maybe DVC only had a set number of slots for each sail date and the 2009 slots have sold out??

We just added on at BLT and inquired about the 7 day cruise incentive for 2009. We would be able to still get this, but instead of 10% down, you need to put 25% down. Ask you rep if they will still allow 25% down and cruise in late 2009.

We also just did an add on at BLT and with the 25% down we were able to get the 2009 cruise.

UGH! My guide never mentioned the 25% down. Just got the papers today...now I guess they need to be rewritten. I'll put the 25% down. If I wait 14 months of payments, the damn cruise dates will have sailed away! Seems to me that's an important piece of info he left out!

I received a 3 day cruise four person voucher. I upgraded for $562 to a five person Cat. 4. I did not think that was too much $ for an upgrade to Cat. 4, adding the extra person and still includes tips.

That's a GREAT deal! Good for you!
