We just got our docs today for our 3night cruise = Apr 15 :Pinkbounc

We are bring my 2 nephews (ages 14 & 12) with us on this cruise as companion for our son.

I was under the impression that there was a special form that Disney required for traveling with minor children that are not our own. I believe it was to be a notorized document signed by the parent allowing the children to travel with us without their parents.

We're only going to the Bahamas but technically that is outside the country.

I thought this form should have been included with our cruise docs, but it wasn't.

Should it have been? And do I really need it?

Thanks everyone

picture ID's for the adults and state certified birth certificates for everyone who is going with you

Thanks for responding.

I know about the birth Certificates but I'm under the impression that there is a form that the parent who is not going with their child needs to sign and notarize that allows another non-parent adult to travel with their child outside the country.

I think it has something to do with the increase in child abductions to outside the states.

You should have your nephews parents write a short letter stating they give you permission to care for their children during the time they will be with you. This should also state they give you permission to see to all their medical needs. Make sure you do have this notorized...The major reason for this note is in case there is a medical emergency...Hope this helps...

the only document included with the Disney Docs is when the other parent is not travelling with the family.

I believe that you must get a notorized letter from the parents of the nephews that allow you to take them.

I'm going to need that same form because my daughter's father is not coming with us (and I HOPE he doesn't give me a hard time about it - that would be just like him to do so) now I'm worried I won't get it either. I'm probably going to give them a call about 6 weeks out just to make sure, I don't want ANY problems!

Zuzu, I would obtain the letter allowing travel outside the country from her father and also a copy of your custody agreement from the courts. Just to be safe.

Those traveling with the children of others, please be sure to also bring a copy of the parents medical insurance card. Very important in case of medical emergency. This along with the notarized letter of permission is vital.

It was in the booklet after the luggage tags and sheet saying we hadn't included transfers. It says:
This form must be completed for minors under age 18 traveling without their parent or legal guardian.

I, state your name, hereby authorize state other adult name, to have care, custody and control of my minor child(ren) state name, age, and to act and contract on their behalf in connection with the disney cruise line vacation, commencing on date.

Sign, date and notorized.

Thanks Carol, I just hope he doesn't give me a hard time, he's really difficult that way, although my family is from Quebec, he always makes it difficult when I want to go home! Better get working on it early!

you will not need it from the father because you can take her. you just show id if you have a differnt name but she only needs you. the form was in our book they sent after tags. we had to use it filled it out and did what they said and had no hasels:D

I'm divorced and recently traveled with my three kids. I didn't need a notorized letter, got one anyway. All they did was ask if everyone had the last name. We do cause I never reverted back to my maiden name, makes things so much easier.

Form for traveling with someone else's children is in document package.

My daughter's last name is different from mine. We have travelled on Disney twice and Carnival once - the latest was on 2/21/04.

Not once was I asked for anything from her father!

Just goes to show you moms that have custody (or dads), that your child can be taken out the country without your knowledge.

For me -- this is a good thing since my daughter's father works overseas and I have absolutely NO contact information for him. That is the way he wants it and thats the way I keep it.

;)

Thanks everyone

I found it!!!

I was looking for more of a typical letter size document and not the coupon size.

Sometimes I guess I'm just a :yo-yo: lol
