I put my family on the list for first seating on a waiting list. Never cruise Disney before so what are the odds this will happen? We don’t cruise until December

Interested in this too. We were a late addition to our cruise and only the late sitting was available, but we're early diners normally. I'm hoping to make the switch, but OTOH we come from a time zone two hours earlier, so in case we can't switch we might be able to make do..?

I would recommend to keep checking the website. It is just a request, not confirmed, until shortly before the cruise, so in the weeks leading up to it you may find some people switch their request to main dining and it shows up as an option. I was at first assigned to late dining, but then saw main show up in the drop down menu a few days later and snagged it. Also, don't be afraid to keep calling and asking, and check in with guest services on the ship -- from other threads I've seen, it seems like this is one of those "squeaky wheel gets the grease" situations.

I'd hazard a guess that you're quite likely to be switched, since you have so long until you cruise.

Also, it's not a bad idea to give DCL a call periodically to "confirm" you're still on the list. On occasion, CMs have been know to go ahead and switch people using this method.

I've requested to be moved from 2nd to 1st twice and got moved once. The time I got moved, we had booked about 9 months in advance and requested the switch immediately. I think we were about 6 months out when I noticed the dinner seating had changed online. The second time, we were just 3 months out when we booked. Again, I made the request immediately and it was not granted. I did not attempt to get it changed onboard. At that point, we just accepted the late dining. But there will be a location listed in the embarkation day Navigator for dining changes and you can go there to request to be switched if the request isn't granted before your cruise.

As PP mentioned, call and follow up with your request. I'd guess that you have a good chance of getting your request.

We booked our June 2017 cruise in April 2017. We were stuck with late dining, and I called to be put on the wait list. We didn't get moved up. On embarkation day, we went to Royal Palace (side door) where they were processing the dining change requests. Easy peasy!

I've requested to be moved twice. One cruise was less than 75 days away and we were moved 2 weeks before the cruise, we were a party of 5. Our upcoming cruise we booked 11 months in advance and I just checked today and saw that we were moved, we are 8 months away and are a party of 10.

We've been on the wait list for most of our cruises. Only once did we not get it. Generally we were moved to early (from late) seating anywhere from almost immediately after being placed on the list to 3 days before the cruise. And that was without the "squeaky wheel" process.

The times we were put in second seating, I was sure to go to the requested area ( mentioned in the Navigator that you get as you board) on embarkation day and request main dining in person. It has worked all 3 times. Waitlist has NOT worked for us.

I have gotten Palo by going there on embarkation day as well.:thumbsup2

Our last two cruises we were on the wait list and got moved to early dining. That includes the cruise starting tomorrow that we only booked four weeks ago.

Just FYI, fixing to do my 11th cruise and on the first cruise I insisted on early dining since my daughter was around 4, but found that we enjoy late dining better. Not having to rush back from excursions is nice to try and get ready for dinner. There's always food to eat in the meantime if you get hungry before dinner.

We booked our July cruise after Christmas, wait listed for main seating. We were granted it in early March, however after much discussion I think we will stick with second seating
