There are six of us (4 adults 2 kids) going on the 14 day Panama canal trip to California next May and we plan to spend the night before the cruise at the Hyatt. The last time we went on a cruise we took a towncar. This time we're leaning toward the Disney busses because of the convenience. I wanted to be sure of a few things before I added the transfers.

1. Does the bus always leave early from the Hyatt? We like the idea of arriving early at the port.

2. Does the bus make any stops on the way? Definitely would prefer a direct trip.

Appreciate any feedback you can give me. Thanks!

We stayed overnight at the Hyatt, and were on the first bus that left for the Port at 9.45am. Make sure you check in early at the Disney Desk to get your bus name and time. We did that, and then went for a coffee. Bus goes direct to the port, and took approx 45 mins. They show a great video about the ship, and the time soon passes. There is also a toilet on the bus, which is good if you are travelling with youngsters. We were among the first 20 people at the Terminal, and so were booked in and taking piccies of the ship by 11 am. Magical! We left our cases outside the door at the hotel, and they miraculously appeared in our stateroom approx 2pm.Nat:Pinkbounc

we stayed at the Hyatt also, and put our luggage outside our door by 8:30 a.m., went downstairs and checked with DCL and were on the 9:45 a.m. bus... the time goes quickly, completing any forms you need to and they check to make everything is filled out properly for you.

We were at the Port by 10:30, time flies while you're watching the video, getting all excited about boarding the ship.

Same thing -- arrived the night before. When you check in, be sure to mention you are sailing with DCL. They give you an envelope with all your instructions and special luggage tags. Had our bags out the door by 8:30a.m. -- took our carryons down to the lobby and right to the DCL desk. Got our boarding passes for the bus. We were on the first bus and got to the port by 10:30 a.m. It was great. Never had to carry our luggage at all once we checked into the hotel. It arrived in our stateroom that afternoon.

When they took us down to the buses (there were two there at one time), we saw two U-Haul trucks sitting in the doorway and all our luggage was being loaded onto those. It is quite an organized operation.

I often recommend doing the Hyatt to friends taking the cruise - it is so convenient to be inside the airport.

I am surprised--this is the Airport Hyatt? Is it really safe to leave luggage out since it is on airport property? I know it makes it convenient for passengers--but as a hotel guest roaming the halls and seeing luggage hanging out...would leave me concerned. I guess if it is tagged with DCL tags--then it would be obvious it were harmless, I guess.

The hotel is self-contained. You have to take a two-story escalator from the airport floor to the hotel lobby. We were put into a wing in the back that was also housing all DCL guests. You put your luggage out at 8:30 a.m. When we left our room, every single room in that wing had luggage outside the door. We looked down the balcony to the floors below us, same thing. Luggage everywhere.

We never worried about it. Of course, the thought is there that someone could walk by and grab a piece of luggage, but I even thing that on the Disney ship when we put our luggage out the night before! Anyone could grab a piece and put it in their room and rifle through it since we can't lock them. There is always that chance -- even at the finest hotels!

No one would try to pinch our suitcases! We need a crane to pick them up! Not that I overpack you understand!!!

We got to the DCL desk around 8.30 I believe. Was great to be on the first bus with lots of excited children (and adults!).

meb51,

We have always stayed at the Hyatt and used Disney transfers. Always has been very easy. We will be on the same cruise that you are going! Come join our group on the cruise meets board!

For now, I do have the transfers on my reservation, but also am exploring other options, such as a towncar. You can always remove the transfers, or pay right there at the Hyatt in the morning.

Hope to see you join us over on the cruise meets board!

Robin

When I called Disney asking about the price per person, I was told it was $49 round trip from the Hyatt. How did you get the $25 price?

That would be about right --$49/pp round trip. I was told $25/pp one way -- so I guess you get a "discount" for roundtrip.

Now what will I do with the dollar discount I'll get?;) We sail in July. I booked our cruise thru DU. Can I still add the ground transfers on?

I was told you can add them on any time before you arrive -- but you have to pay for them at time of booking.

Thanks for all the great replies. Looks like this will be the way to go for us! I'll make my way to the cruise meets board to meet my fellow cruisers.pirate:
