Yikes. I'm not sure that advertising for a travel companion on an open board is a good idea. As nice as most of us sound, some of us might not be what we seem.

I'd suggest that you select a cruise and then hop over to the Cruise Meet thread for your cruise to make contact with others already on the cruise. You're likely to find others to "hang out" with that way.

One note, traveling alone you'll incur a single supplement surcharge. Basically, you are paying for 2 people in the room (but taxes and fees for only one). Isn't there someone you know (work, family, church) that would be interested in taking a cruise?

yes, if you get on a cruise meet board w/your date of your cruise, you can meet people that way. and i'm sure thru that, there are many (families, singles, couples, etc.) that are more than happy to hang out if you ask. i've met other families that we've gone on excursions together, and planned a group for palo together (although my DH & i didn't join that group, b/c it didn't fit into our schedule w/what our DSs wanted to do)...and the group usually have a dis meet right at the beginning of the cruise, (at least that was the case w/our 2 previous cruises) so we can all put faces to the names that we've been "interacting with" here on the boards.

hope you find a buddy or two...

If was a woman, single, your age and with disposable time, I'd go with you. (almost) no questions asked.
Alas, I've none of these beautiful attributes so I will pass... ;)
Most on here are good people (i'd say a good 80%, sorry 20%-ers..lol) and if i was in a similar situation as yours i'd have no problem asking as well.
I like being social but when i was your age (and still) I didn't go to night clubs (liked staying at home), or churches (atheist), etc... i've always prefered staying at home reading and/or watching movies. My only outings were to baseball/football stadiums and i went to those solo (my parents/family were not sports people) so i don't think anything's wrong with you asking here

Kudos for being a responsible young woman and having $... when i was your age i barely had $ to survive...

Good luck and all the best to you on here and in life..

im getting desperate.None of my friend can afford the trip and my father is sick of going with me.Its truly hard to find an adult to go with that loves disney

sadly i have no$ my father pays for me.The issue with that is him and my mother dont think its safe for me to go alone. This is my way of trying to get around it.If i can find someone else to go i can finally go on the fantasy and take a 7 nite curise.

I would have to think it would probably be safer to go alone than with a stranger.:confused3

Which ship  are you looking at booking? Our family is booked on the Fantasy, Oct 25,14 sailing.:woohoo:

Here is a safer suggestion: Instead of advertising for a buddy maybe advertise to go as a nanny for a family with small children..........if you wouldn't mind doing that.

We have 4 children and we've looked into it ourselves. I can tell you that some large families would love to have someone of your demographics along for the trip. You'd spend time with the family, time with the children, and have time to yourself as well.

Think about it.

well its looks like its going to be me and my dad again this year just booked my cruise thanks everyone

Asked my wife, but she says I can't go. :lmao:

The previous posters are correct that the safest thing is to not cruise with a stranger, but I think there are ways to mitigate the risk. Obviously, you would not likely choose to room with guy, which removes an entire category or two of danger. Also, you would certainly have some conversations via email or phone beforehand, during which you would get to know each other a little bit. DCL would have every bit of information about your cruise buddy, right down to passport number, which would be a bit of a deterrent for any criminal activity on her part. So unless you found an absolute raving lunatic woman who wanted to go to jail for assaulting someone while on a cruise ship, I think you would be ok. Certainly much safer than finding a buddy to go on a hike in the woods, or a European backpacking trek.

I'll message you the next time I want to send my wife on a Disney cruise so that she can purchase an OBB trip for us!

I couldn't agree more! Frankly, the idea of searching for someone to travel with on an anonymous site like this terrifies me. This is the stuff that makes the evening news when it goes wrong. It also blows my mind that any parents would search/find a nanny for their kids on a site like this. I certainly would have wanted to meet and get to know anyone before deciding if they were qualified to spend time with my kids.

The world is full of creepy people. Yes, as a PP said, it's probably 80% good, caring, honest people and 20% not so much. But that 20% create 80% of the trouble. If you need proof, just read a little of this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3258980

I have daughters about your age. I would think they had lost their mind if they told me they found someone on this site and planned to travel with them.

Be safe.
Go with dad (again).
Be grateful your life is such that you have a dad, that he is able to afford such a trip at all, and that he's willing to go with you so you can have the trip you want. You are a very fortunate young lady.

Our TA sometimes posts that she has a client looking for a person to share a room on a cruise. This would help to screen people somewhat a bit better than a message board. That could be an option for you in the future. :)

Very good advice.
Please be safe and make wise decisions. :)
