Are there any books that you would recommend for a first time cruiser? I found the Birnbaum's Guide to the Disney Cruise Line. Is this one good? is there another one I should be looking for and if so any ideas where to get it? Thanks!

I'd have to agree with everyone's recommendation on the Passporter! I am waiting for the 3rd edition!

I also agree with the Passporter. I have not even cruised yet but will on 5-5-05. I feel like I already know the ship. You can also go back to their site for updates on changes to the cruise that occured after the book was printed. That way you are always up to date on the latest information.

I'll also send KUDOS to the Passporter. I have the deluxe edition and LOVE it! It came in handy during the cruise as well for quick info. I printed some blank pages from their website to journal a few notes during the trip as well. I'd HIGHLY recommend it!!

i am calling passporters..my cruise bible...lotsa good info!!
the site also gives you and updates since the last book was published..can't get better than that!

passporters guide is perfect. nothing better i think. we just love it

When we planning out first cruise we had sooo many questions and concerns. I read this forum and posted alot of questions that were answered by the great experts here. (thanks all) But I kept hearding about the Passporter. The full name is PassPorter's Field Guide to Disney Cruise Line and its Caribbean Ports of Call.
It has great fact and lots of usefull info. They have tried and true tips and and tricks. There are pages you can use for budget, itinerary, and other worksheets. You can customize it for your own cruise. We found it very helpful. You can order the last edition from PassPorter.com or amazon/barnes and noble.

Truely the best guide you will find.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't Birnbaum the "Official" DCL book so it could be a little biased.

Passporter is written and published by fans (like us) and gives what I consider to be a less biased view. Plus they provide free updates on their website between editions.
Dave and Jennifer put a lot of time into the development and maintenance of the guide.

Question about the Passporter:
When we were planning our first trip to WDW I bought the Passporter, the Birnbaum's Guide, and the Unofficial Guide to WDW. Of the three, I couldn't stand the Passporter and ended up giving it away. The information was good but I found it very hard to read and follow. Is the cruise one the same format? Is it easy to read?

I have never seen the WDW Passporter but I find the cruise Passporter very easy to read. If you have a Borders or Waldenbooks nearby, then they should have it in stock and you could look before you buy.
