Secret Deck 7 is an excellent idea, BUT.....It is locked at night. So unless we wanted to change the time, or get special permission, it won't work.:( And yes it is formal night, I hadn't thought about that. But that will be the case (formal or semi-formal) on both nights at sea. Oh well, we have 51 weeks to work out the details.:p Later, Ave'

Mary that is the job that Kathy was telling you about. Kathy goes for orientation on the 4th or 5th of November.

We kept Katie last night for the kids so they could get some rest from the drive from Houston.

Eric how are things going in Frankfort? That is a great exchange rate for you on the euro versus the dollar. Better than when it was mark versus dollar:p:

Ave, hope that all of your family is doing well there in pcb.

Cathy with a "C" if you haven't gotten a picture made from the cd yet of Art and Cruella I will be glad to print one for you.

Missed cruise chat tonight due to wendy's scr**ing up our order. Had to go back and get them to make it again. Mike

OK...for all of you trying to arrange a conference room. You need to contact your travel agent, preferably one that has booked more than one of your cabins so he/she has more pull. They then can contact their sales rep and arrange for a meeting room time and place. For a per person fee, you can arrange to have drinks and snacks served also.
I am so jealous of Scott & Dan on the ship...it's cold here in Ohio! DH and I going to Mexican Riviera in 3 weeks but it's not the same as being on Disney! If I don't get away every other month, though, I go stir crazy! Traveling is in my blood!
How many from Cruisetoberfest are now confirmed for this sailing? I know Papa & Kathy, Tuli's, PoohNate & Friend with Dan & Scott, RellingTwin and DH, and Eric & Anja. What about Goofy Nut (Art & Cathy?). Anyone else?

We're waiting until Nov 11, because we're booking with DVC points. But, after then, it will be DH, DD and I. And, my mother and aunt will also be cruising with us in their own cabin. 2 1/2 weeks to go, and we'll be confirmed.

Hi Jean,
Yes Art and Cathy have rebooked along with Dave(Cheese Please) and Mary's twin sister Ave. There is also Elaine from idaho, Bette's mom and several others from the dis cruisears cruise. Going to be quite a group. Just need the three muskateers to help round out the gang:bounce: Mike

Hello All!

Mike - We missed cruise chat ourselves since we were out and about! And thanks for that CD. We felt we were on Cruisears with you guys.

DopeysGal - Have you figured out how to access the chat room yet?

JNOEL - So many Cruistoberfest 2'ers, I can't keep them straight just yet! LOL! As of Viking's last official mailing, we have 17 groups (I'm not going to count how many individuals!) And yes, Art and Cathy are among those going.

All - Does it seem a little absurd to be doing all this planning so far ahead? NO, IT DOESN'T! Time goes by so fast. Eric started this thread in May and that seems like just yesterday instead of nearly six months ago!

One of the best things I liked about the 9/22 cruise was just bumping into people we *knew* throughout the ship and shore. And the one thing that I really regret from Cruisetoberfest One is not having a group picture of all of us together. If we end up pulling off having a private DIS meet on board, that would be the perfect opportunity for the photo. Things are just too confusing to have this done at the sailaway party.

Lots of suggestions floating around. Personally, Ms Cheapo here would prefer NOT to pay extra for the privilege of a room and waiters, but I will not eliminate that idea entirely. I like TwinAve's idea of Deck 9. I also like Windemere's suggestion of taking over late night dining room but even if everyone was on late night (which is not the case), with the different structures of families, we will very well be on different rotations.

So let's keep brainstorming and talking about ideas we like and dislike. If the same one keeps popping up, we may have something to start working with.

Take care all!

We also like the idea of a special meeting!! Perhaps DU can arrange someting for us.
What about extending the list by one column to state the travel agency everybody used. This could facilitate getting an overview.

Papa,

things are great in FrankfUrt (We're not in Kentucky - It's the real thing in Germany :p ), but it's raining cats and dogs over here with temps in the 40ies. Additionally we have a storm warning for the whole country (Remember: Germany is smaller than most of your 50 states) with predicted windspeeds up to 80 mph.
Tomorrow we've got the Frankfurt Marathon with about 14,000 runners. Three of my colleagues will participate - I don't envy them.
Now it's back to the TV: Anja gave me a Nintendo Gamecube for my birthday and I have to steer Super Mario through some adventures and later I will fight the Dark Side Of The Force with my X-Wing.

PS: We're glad over here that the Police arrested the Sniper. This was a very scary thing. It must be hell not to be save in your town.

What? Someone else from Idaho will be there? Where in ID is she? I live in Mountain Home (just southeast of Boise) when I'm not in Florida (as I am right now). If anyone in ID is going on Cruisetoberfest II, I would certainly like to meet her. If she went to last month's DIS Meet in Boise, maybe we've already met!

I have not been on the DIS much lately because I've been pretty busy here in FL. But I did PM with @GoofyNut about the pins. Tomorrow I'll be at MNSSHP and the pre-party. Then on Halloween and again on Nov. 10 I have Wonder cruises. :teeth:

Papa,

a Deutschmark/Dollar parity would be heaven for our vacation plans as a Euro is 1.95583 Deutschmarks. But it would be hell for our exports, because nobody in the States could afford buying our cars then ;)
The best Dollar/Mark exchange rate I ever had was in '88 when we paid 1.40 Marks per Dollar. The last four trips to the States (95,97,99 & 01) we paid beween 1.80 and 2.10. We just hope that the parity prevails (or perhaps the Euro could be a bit better) , because a vacation in America can become quite expensive with a low Euro.

Taswira: I will send you a pm. We live in Boise. I lived in Mtn home from the time I was 11 until I went away to college when I was 18! I am sure we know some of the same people. My dad was at MHAFB. I wasn't at the dismeet because we were on the 9/28 cruise. Talk to you soon. Elaine from Idaho!

Sorry about the o in Frankfurt Eric. Hey I am old remember;)

Going to my oldest daughters home this afternoon for a halloween party.

Oh the pictures of the light fixture on the cd were from the san juan hotel where we stopped on the tour for a pit stop. It is so large that it take three days to clean it once it is lowered. The ceiling and the walls are all made of solid mahogany with lots of carvings. This hotel was built in 1951.

On the way to fort morro there in San Juan, we passed by some policemen that were dressed in flak jackets and toting M16's. The drive said that they had a drug raid there three days ago.

Hope that everyone is doing well and we will check back in later tonight. Mike

Eric, my son has a Gamecube too and for Christmas he's getting a TV screen that attaches to it, plus a carrying case, so that he can take it anywhere. He is planning on taking it on the cruise but I bet he only plays it early morning or on sea days. I guess if Anja and I can't find the two of you at some point, you'll be chasing down Super Mario :D Just curious, do your games come in a German version or are they in English?

Hi Debbie,
nearly all games come in a German version, but also contain other languages. Super Mario Sunshine for example comes in German, Italian, Spanish, French and English. The American games are not compatible with German Gamecubes and vice versa, but you can use a special boot-CD to play US or Japanese games on the German set. BTW, Microsoft and Sony use the same strategy with the X-Box and the PS1 and 2. They want to prevent us Europeans to buy titles already released in the US, but not yet available over here. Additionally we use a different TV-system over here: It's called PAL (The French use SECAM), and it provides a better picture quality than the NTSC-system used in the States (Sorry!!) , but most TV-sets, VCRs and DVD-players in Europe are also capable to show NTSC.
I'm a real video-game buff: I started with Pong in the 70ies, was one of the first buyers of the Atari 2600 system, spent long nights at the Commodore 64, then had a NES, still have a SNES, a Nintendo 64 and was also a launching customer for all Gameboys, starting with the Original in '89 up to the GBA. I will take my Gameboy Advance to the cruise. And last but not least I also have a Dreamcast and a highend-PC equipped with a ForceFeeedback-Joystick, a ForceFeedback-Wheel and a MS FreestylePro Joypad. Perhaps Cameron and me can have a go at the Gameboy or the Gamecube while on the ship.

I'm with Tulirose, I would rather not give DCL any more of my money, they are already getting enough.:D To pay extra for food on a cruise seems a bit silly. I will contact my travel agent at DU and see if she has any ideas. Still plenty of time to plan. Later, Ave'

Hey guys!

On the ship now, having a great time. Really looking forward to next October.

Papa, got the shirt for you.

Well gotta run (OK eat)

Dan

Just a 9/28 DisCruisers lurking, hoping that eventually we can join you but won't be signing up to go just yet. Hi to all my fellow DisCruisers. Kathy (with a K), I sent you a pm.

Nancy

Thanks Dan just let me know how much to send you when you return. Hope that you and Scott are having a wonderful time.

Ave I agree with you and Tulirose.

I had a kind of rough day, while slicing potatoes this morning I sliced my thumb also. Kathy took me to the ER and I wound up getting seven stitches. Ouch the medicine to deaden it hurt worse than the cut itself.

Nancy Kathy will be in touch with you by PM tomorrow, since she is in the bed right now. Mike
