Hi from Minnesota
We will be one the Western 10/11/03 cruise also. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. First time staying at the Radisson Cape Canaveral night before. Has anyone done this hotel and can anyone give us any good tips. So far there is 5 of us. So looking forward to this. We are Cat. 6 and Cat. 11 Hope to see ya real soon!

Hi Boardwalk nice to see another from the north country

WELCOME BOARDWALK

Mike--- Glad your test results were ok.

Kathy--- Hope your leg is getting better?

Cheese Please (Dave)--- I guess U of Del gets out later because they had that huge Christmas break. Good luck with moving everything back, it filled up our van. Plus, now it is filling up the workshop with all the stuff at the house.

Cathy--- Did they get the baseball game in?

Ave--- Enjoy your days off, you deserve them. To bad you have to do so much laundry.

We are going to Orioles game tonight. It is suppose to stop raining this morning, but it isn't going to be real warm. So I guess I will be in jeans with mutliple layers on top. It is not ideal baseball weather. I don't think we are going down real early so no Inner Harbor today.

Only 5 days till we leave for vacation. So I really need to get started on the packing. I did go to Walmart to get all those essential things you need ( the new underwear).

Well, got much to do and little time to do it.

Talk to everyone later.

Nancy

I had to save us from dropping off to page 2

Eric, I hope you and Anja (and Opa) had a nice time at the party.

Rosemary, you must join the gang for Brunch. It was such fun last year when our gang took over Palo.

Kathy....how ya felling??

How wonderful we get to see the Magic changes first. I am the only nurse on the planet who dosn't drink coffee, but DH loves it. I may just have to join him in the coffee bar just so I can check it out.

The cost is the same as if you ate at Palo's on your own $10.00 per person.

Please us (Matt & Karol) to the bunch list as well.

Thanks,

Good morning all. Hope that everyone is having a great day. Kathy is doing better and we are counting down the days like everyone else. Welcome boardwalk if I haven't said that already.

We are having an early birthday party for Katie today. Her birthday isn't until Wednesday, but this is the day we could all be together. Mike

Happy Birthday Katie. She is such a cutie.

Nice and sunny here. Nice temperature as well. Not quite shorts weather but it's perfect for pruning trees and bushes which is what we have been doing all weekend. Just came in to take a break. DS wants to see Matrix so may do that this afternoon. He wants to see it with dear old Mom so Mom can pay for it!! In return he has promised me time to do housework -- including picking up all the dishes he has left lying around the house. We know that there are some out there because the cupboard and silverware drawers are looking bare.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. We get tomorrow off too which is great. Hoping to catch up on some stuff. Weekends aren't long enough for everything it seems.

Fiona

*Cost?
It's $20/person for 3 hours. Kids 10 years and under are FREE. Prepayment by check is required three months prior to excursion (July). They don't take credit cards. If you are from outside the US, US Money Orders are accepted or if you have a US dollar account from a foreign bank you can draw a check on that. We will be sending our checks AND a self-addressed stamped envelope (so the checks can be returned if we miss Key West) to the following address:
The Southernmost Scavenger Hunt
3301 Pearl Ave
Key West, FL 33040
DO NOT SEND CHECKS, YET!

*Place and time?
We are going to meet on Sunday, October 12th, 2003 at 1PM in front of the stairs to the Hilton Hotel Lobby. It's to the right of the red brick building (Custom House) as you leave the ship. The Magic usually docks in front of the Hilton Hotel. The hunt lasts from 1 PM to 4 PM. Remember to wear your ScavengEar t-shirts designed by @GoofyNut.

*Electric Cart?
If one needs an electric cart, the scavenger hunt people can point you in the right direction to rent one. The two electric cart places they use are Key West Cruisers @ (305)294-4724 http://keywest.com/keywestcruisers/ on Truman Ave at Truman and Duval and Reef Mobile (formerly Randal J Scooters) @ (305) 296-0208 www.reefmobile.com on Greene Street (near Sloppy Joes Bar on Duval). The Reef Mobile Electric Carts are themed, but have changed management and are going to be themed according to "reefs", like shark, manatee, dolphin, baracouda or octopus in a reef theme instead of the polka-dotted one on the hunt website. Call these companies to make reservations if you require an electric cart. An electric cart isn't necessary to experience this tour.

*Sites?
Southermost Point, Hemmingways House, Shipwreck, Cigar Place, Shrimp Dock and off the wall places you might not normally have known about. The normal Key West sites plus some interesting wacky ones, too. Learn about interesting facts and trivia of these landmarks and sites.

*Hunting for objects?
In addition to searching for the sites and answering the clues (all for points are counted at the end for prizes), there is an object named "PINKY". He is their mascot and if you find him, he is worth an extra 50 points. People in Key West know of Pinky the Flamingo. He's famous. As our award winning scavenger hunt is, too.

Since we are the ScavengEar hunt, our hunt has to have a pair of Mickey Ears, too. The back is sewn with the words "Pinky". At the end of the hunt, people gather at the "mystery location" for the awards ceremony where all the points are tallied and stories of our hunt are told.

That's it for now. They will be checking in on us to give our group more information, so they will be posting shortly and I will also. If more people want to join the group, just reply to this thread. If I missed someone, sorry. Just remind me, and I'll add you.

Tina

Tina,
the poor islanders won't know what hit them :jester: ,
but it also means that Nancy, George, Anja & I will leave 53 crying losers behind us :teeth:

Happy Birthday to Opa and Katie.

Fionna-- You are in Canada and have nice weather today and I am down here in PA freezing. Last night at the Orioles game it was 50 degrees at game time. I had on the layered look, turtleneck, hoodie, fleece vest and rain slicker. I had to have the hood up and was still cold. I should have been at a Ravens game not a baseball game.

Tina--- The Orioles are really bad, but able to beat the last place team. DS#1 said that his streak is alive, every game he has gone to the Orioles have won. The Orioles probably wish he went more often. The only name I recognized on the team was 1st base coach Rick Dempsey when they announced him. There was hardly anyone at the game. Guess they all went over to the Preakness to party in the mud.

Mary--- Count me as another nurse who doesn't drink coffee. I am a diet Pepsi addict. Have it for breakfast.

I see we have another Nancy in the group.

For all the Minnesota people, at least the Wild finally scored a goal. GO DUCKS.

Glad Kathy is doing better.

Later,
Nancy

Eric,
I can't wait for the ScavengEar Hunt! I hope everyone has fun even after Bill and I win. LOL! ha. ha. ha. I bet you people with the kids are going to have the edge.

Nancy,
You're going to laugh, but everytime hubby goes to the Oriole's game they lose, and lose by a landslide.

I wish it would stop raining! I need to mow the lawn.
Tina

Hey Tina,
you are wrong:
First, you can't win, because we do!!
Second, we ain't got no kids: Nancy & George are Windermere, and we decided to team up for the Hunt a couple of months ago.
Third: We don't brake for anyone, neither kids nor retirees :jester:

BTW,
today I found something interesting in our cellar when I was looking for some old vinyl-records I need for our Class-Of-83-Reunion. I discovered an old Longplay-record of WDW's Country Bear Jamboree. I must have bought it in '88 during my first visit in WDW. I will transfer it to a CD. If anybody wants a copy, just tell me.

Eric,
I meant people with kids in general probably have an edge because they think differently. The way I wrote it above, it looks like you guys have the kids. I'm 40 and think like a kid, so look out! ...and write like one, too. LOL.
Tina
