Rosemary - I completely have to agree with you. Chris and I both thought that out of the 2 of them, it should have been Matt. Actually, part of me wanted to see Rob win, just because he played everyone so well!! But, a little part (a very little part) was happy that Jenna won! She's part of my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, so I wanted her to win just because we share a common bond.

I was also very surprised. I thought Mat would be the winner. A very interesting show.
I hope all the moms had a nice Mother's Day.

I was disappointed that Matt didn't win. I also would have been ok with Rob winning since he put so much effort into planning and scheming to win. Matt looked a lot different on the live show last night.

Spent the weekend in between the rain pruning back trees. There is a lot to do this year since we've decided to take out some of the trees totally. My right hand is sore from the clippers and my left hand is sore from scraps that I got. We haven't finished the front of the house although we started on the side. We need a larger clipper for one of the trees at the front and then a chain saw to deal with the really big branches. Then it's to get the stumps out. Yuck. Rained off and on all weekend which was kinda nice because it gave us a break. It's going to be a lot of work the next couple of weekends though. At least it was warm enough to be comfortable outside. So far no need for air conditioning but the temperature is warming up.

Supposedly there is Cdn at par deal coming May 15th. We've been mulling over a July trip to take advantage of it. it should save us some money in October though. We'll see when the deal is announced on Thursday.

Should get back to work.

Thanks for the congrats on the hockey win -- we've been waiting since 1997 for a win.

Fiona

:Pinkbounc mad over Survivor. No wonder they only do 2 shows a year. It takes that long for us to calm down and get new TV's! I was sooooooooooooooooooo bummed. The show must have cut out the 2 or 3 hours that it took for Jenna to tell how many people they lied to. I'd love to go on the show just for the weight loss but would get voted out really quick cause I couldn't be so deceptive and lie to all those people. An don't get me started on how I'd feel about those that don't do their fair share of the work. (OK I feel Better now)

I can't believe it but I have to run again ... work phone calls!

I had to save us from dropping off page I ;)
Today we should reach 50,000 views :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I was gonna be fresh and just type "Ya think?" when I decided to check the views first. Dang it, the man is right - it is at 50,028 views as I type! Give that man a cee-gar!

I thought Matt was going to be the winner, too! Just goes to show you low under the radar. Still trying to figure out why Matt thought it necessary to throw the immunity chanllenge. Between Matt and Rob, Matt probably would have won.

Survivor last night was a bummer.

Had to go to the cardiologist today for an EKG and have a Echo-Cardiogram on Thursday. Just a lot of fatigue and excessive sweating.

We had 3 tornadoes pass within 20 miles of us early Sunday morning. They destroyed about 60 homes, but thank goodness no one was injured. In the past 11 days we have had 9 inches(22.9 cm) of rain. Hoping to dry out soon.

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow. Mike

Rosemary,
you should always remember the two eternal laws of Ericism:

Paragraph 1: Eric is always right.
Paragraph 2: If Eric seems not to be right, see Paragraph 1. :teeth:

Mike,
we hope that the weather gets better for you and that these dreadful storms stop.
And your heart must be in order!!! As "the Volunteer of the Year" you have a diploma stating that you have a great heart ;)

Eric everything is going to be fine. I would not miss this cruise for the world. The many friends and fond memories that we have of past cruises with everyone is something which is special in our hearts and minds.

Rosemary hope that your tv has recovered from it's shoe assault. So are you going to watch the next survivor???

Cathy hope that the workload lightens up a bit for you this week. Tell Art if he needs a second job, just go to the home improvement store with his bib overalls on and set up a booth to answer questions for a buck a piece. You know kind of like Lucy in the peanuts cartoon.

Hope that everyone has a great day. Come on October!!!!

Gotta check in for a sanity break (from work). Tonite is JAG and they better not mess with Sarah like they did Singer.

What's up with this weather ..... Believe it or not we were under a Tornado Watch Sunday afternoon and there was one minor one west of me. Just messup up some trees and sheds but THANK GOD no one was hurt or lost their house. MIKE & KATHY no wonder you had an screwey EKG ... all that stress of the Tornado's will do it. Please take care of yourselves (Or should I say take cover?) On a lighter note ... has anyone seen the commercial for the guy that afraid of termites and builds a concrete house - furniture and all. Maybe that isn't such a bad idea for the Tornado Areas!

BTW thanks, Mary, Ave & Nancy ... I did get 2 boxes of the 2 gallon Zip Bags at Target to try and help with the packing this year. Sure are a lot cheaper than the commercial ones on TV.

Oh well ... back to work.

Cathy with @ C

Did you see the couple who lost their house by a tornado and they said that thank God that they found the TV for Survior that night? The Survivor people heard about it and invited them to be in the audience in New York and did a little interview with them. It would have been neat if they rebuit the house for them, but they got a free trip to NY.

Tina :)

Matty:

Ditto for the Great success of Canadian Hockey!! As for the Minnesota Wild, "The Stanley Cup has not runnith over, yet" Time to tame those Ducks!

Doug

Tina, Saw that on Survivor and thought it was funny although I would probably have been thinking the same thing especially since it was the finale. That's kinda neat that they flew them to NY for it.

It's finally stopped raining here at least for the moment but it's not very warm out at all. Someone at work asked me why I wasn't wearing a coat this morning since it was so cold and I said because it's May and I shouldn't have to -- I did wear a sweater and have the heater on in the car though.

Going to the Jays game tonight so will have to tape JAG. Jays have done ok the last 10 games so we'll see what happens tonight. Waiting til the weather gets warm enough and the Skydome will be open but not tonight I hope.

Back to work.

Cathy,
this is a question I'm asking myself each time, when I see the heaps of (No offense meant) plywood and cardboard that used to be houses. Isn't it possible to build tornado-proof housing at reasonable cost? Perhaps you would have to change the shape of the houses. An igloo-like building should deliver the perfect aerodynamics to survive any storm. It must be possible in the 21st century to build safer houses.

Definitely, the way we build our houses in the states seems flimsy. Our house is build by 2" x 4" lumber 16" on-center with this intermediate energy brace sheathing (5/8" tar paper saw paper composite). Some builders for this "outer sheathing" use oriented strand board (OSB) while other use this paper carboard product covered with aluminum foil. What do you think? Real strong walls? How about some aluminum siding on that or vinyl siding? We have vinyl. Some builders use a house wrap (ours didn't!...I wish they had...It makes a warmer home). We have some decorative brick on our attached garage. LOL! Finishing the home with an architectual grade roof was a nice touch. Our builder was good at "the show" stuff. Lot's of finishing touches and little extras.

Our house is really cute, though, but just build meeting the minimum standards set by the state.

Oh well, but I love it and it's home.

Have you ever wondered how the stateroom hosts on the cruise ships make those towel animals? I found a site that has posted a brochure from Royal Caribbean on how to make them for yourself. I make a nice monkey, swan, elephant and frog.

How about you? I just love towel animals! I can't wait for our cruise to see which ones we get and try to figure how to make them for myself.

Tina :)

Towel animals are such fun to get. We didn't get any on our first cruise but we did on the second. Hoping for more on this third cruise.

The link looked interesting and I bookmarked it, hoping to maybe try it out myself at sometime soon. Thanks for providing it. However, don't you think that their cat looked like a mouse???

Also saw the spot on the Survivor finale with the family whose house was destroyed by the tornado. I'm sure they were real excited to be in NY and to see the finale live but wished the circumstances of getting there were different.

...the two eternal laws of Ericism
Ericism?? Ericism??? God, give me patience.....
ANJA! I think Eric is post due an ear tugging or two!!

Rich says: Make a note, don't talk with Fiona in the mornings before she has her coffee! LOL!

We know the work you will be doing with the trees. When we moved to this house 13 years ago, there were trees all over the place. Just too too many. We took many down ourselves. Falling them wasn't too bad, it was the cutting up and getting rid of them that was the pain-in-the-neck! We did have professionals come once or twice to remove some really really big ones. In total, we removed at least 12 trees and then too-many-to-count bushes and shrubs. Good luck on your weekend project!

Take good care of yourself Mike. We wanna see you and Cathy too come October. Funny though, think of Rich and Rich will think of you on Thursday. He is scheduled for a nuclear stress test -- just routine, no cause for alarm here either.

Rosemary hope that your tv has recovered from it's shoe assault. So are you going to watch the next survivor???
Mike - It was my SLIPPERS!!! I would never throw shoes at the T.V. I was a little passionate that night over the show but I wasn't crazy!! (There was still more to watch on the finale and if I threw shoes, I would have busted T.V. and missed it! -- not to mention Richard then being upset that his remote control would have nothing left to control.) LOL

Yes, I will watch. As disappointed as I was with the outcome, it was a good season overall.
