Well, Relling would have rather been in my shoes today? I took nine children to Chuck E. Cheese today for my DD's 7th birthday!!
I was there for three hours. Then I brought them home to decorate their own cup cakes and eat ice cream! I am exhausted!
I am glad birthdays only come once a year! :)

Hope everyone has a great evening!

Eric -- I don't get paid overtime at all and left the office last night at 7:30pm -- mostly because I want to take next week off and so have to make sure that everything is done beforehand.

It was nice and sunny here but didn't spend much time outdoors as we decided to lift the carpet in one of the bedrooms. Didn't finish but did get a nice start. Had the day off work since it's Canada Day here.

Mary -- People can be unbelievable on the phone especially if you are just trying to help them. Sometimes they just don't like the answer and take it out on you.

Hope -- Can totally understand the birthday party thing. I found Chris' birthday parties totally exhausting when he was younger. The last few years I've just had to pay for paintball and pizza -- less tiring but more expensive. His birthday this year is a week Friday and I'm debating what to send him -- I was thinking cookies since he was a tad distressed that they only feed them 3 meals a day -- he's used to grazing any number of times of day. I'm not sure if the cookies would survive though -- anyone have any experience sending cookies in the mail?

Must go and finish the laundry -- although he's gone he left all of his laundry piled in the laundry room which I didn't notice til today.

Take care everyone. Getting very close to single digits.

Fiona

Just stopping in to say HI!

We've had sun for all most a whole week ... it's scary - we've had so much rain. It's hard to believe it can be so nice.

Hope "Bill" didn't mess up any of you guys down south.

Anyone have cool plans for the 4th? We are going to a Baseball Game and they are really going all out for the fans. It's a night game, but they are opening up in the afternoon with free stuff for the kids to do and special "old time" prices on the food. We're supposed to get special pins and light sticks and I think some of us are to participate in a "moving flag" in the stands. It's to be topped off by one of their biggest fireworks displays, etc. I CAN'T WAIT!

We interrupt this Disney Dream for work.....

Moving this right along, the date is Saturday August 2nd...

Does anyone have any objection to Baltimore? Let's hear from everyone and please respond to all so everyone knows your vote.

Besides Phillip's Restaurant ( they have other things on their menu besides seafood), the Inner Harbor has an ESPN Zone, Legal Seafood and a bit of a walk we can go to Little Italy for lunch. We can do lunch at around 12 noon and then after that the Aquarium at 2 PM with the dolphin show sometime after that (part of the aquarium).

We have the following people definitely coming. Please say how many will be attending, too.

Hard Rock Cafe Baltimore

I can make reservations for both the restaurant and also the aquarium as long as we are 15 people for the aquarium to get a discount.

Remember, vote for a restaurant, tell me if the time of noon is good for lunch, breakdown of ages of people in your party for the aquarium, and if you want to do the aquarium or something else.

See you real soon!
Tina :)

Tina ... I'll need to try and find out how long it will take us to drive down so I can come up with our arrival time. I already looked up the Phillip's Seafood menu and seems OK with me. Do you have an idea of their price ranges? Actually anyplace is OK with me cause I'm not too fussy. Once MaryJo gets back from her vacation, I'll see if her hubby will be coming along and then my hubby can decide if he wants to come or not.

Check back later.

Mid-Atlantic meet.
I'm kicking around the idea of joining you guys. I am going to e-mail my sister who lives in Falls Church Va. tonight and see 1) how far she is from downtown Baltimore 2) if she is going to be home Aug 1-3 (she travels a lot) and 3) if she will put us up for Friday and Sat. night. I would love to stay in Downtown Baltimore but after looking at some of the hotel prices I'm thinking I don't want to THAT badly!LOL! Also it seems many of the hotels have a 3 night min.
It also depends on if I can get Friday ( and maybe Mon?) off from work.

Will keep you posted

Hey, I have a aunt that lifes in Falls Church, VA

Matty, Falls Church is a nice little town. My sister works for the White House and her husband works for the DIA (defense inteligence agency). They both love the small town feel, yet it's very close to the Capitol. We have visited them several times in the last few years. It's hard to believe you can be so close to the Capitol, yet feel like the suburbs.
Have you ever visited your Aunt? Maybe August 2nd would be a good time;) :p

Hi Everyone - We decided we could probably do Baltimore on a one day trip. It's about a four hour drive so it will be a long day.

If memory serves me right, Hard Rock Cafes are quite noisy. DH has a bit of a hearing problem and it will be difficult for him to converse with anyone in a noisy atmostphere.

I don't know how I feel about the aquarium. While it would be nice to do something together, my fear is that we will go our separate ways once we are inside. (Edited to Add: We have been to several really nice aquariums but they never were really my thing. Do you see a pattern here?- don't like fish food, not so crazy about visiting aquariums?)

It would be my hope to have a nice day and be able to stroll along this inner harbor place taking in the sites and sounds and some shopping and get to visit a bit with one another. If we have a rainy day, that might not work too well. Is the inner harbor area covered with places to sit and shops and people doing interesting things to watch - kinda like the South Street Seaport in Manhattan?

Recap from the Tuli's:

Attendees: 2 Adults - Richard and Rosemary

Restaurant - Philips, only because I think it may be not be quite as noisy as ESPN or Hardrock. I do like Italian food though - so Little Italy might be interesting.

Activity - Something else other than aquarium.

Tina, since Baltimore is right in your backyard, we are relying heavily on you for your guidance. Thank you for taking this on.

Gonna post this on the thread too. - Rosemary

Hope.... You have my sympathies on the birthday party!

Josh's birthday parties were getting so big, too many people wanting to come to them. The last one we had at the bowling alley. It was lots of fun..... and cost us an arm and a leg.

It would be different if his birthday was in the summer and we could have everyone over for a cookout or something, but it's in March.

So, a couple of years ago, we ditched the parties and started having the Birthday Weekend. The weekend closest to his birthday, he gets to choose the activities for the entire weekend. We've done Laser Quest, gone to the movies, bowling, family game night, etc. We'll even let him choose an out of town weekend if that's what he wants. Then, at the end of the weekend, on Sunday evening, we have only immediate family over for cake and ice cream. Grandma, Josh's big sibs and their kids. Of course, we still total 12 people, but that's more than cutting it in half from his other parties! It's been working out nicely for us.

Colleen

Cathy..... The baseball game sounds like fun! We don't have any great plans here. Mowing the yard, painting the adirondack chairs, possibly the concert downtown at the gazebo beside the lake Friday night. They have them every Friday during the summer and then some occasional special ones during the week, like Glenn Miller Orchestra.

And, we promised Josh we'd take him to Stan Hywet www.stanhywet.org this weekend. He's been dying to go since they studied it in Ohio history class this past year. Normally the 4th grades would take a field trip there, but money crunch I guess, and they didn't get to go.

Last weekend, we saw the Akron Symphony at the lake. They set up a temporary stage for them because they're too big to fit inside the gazebo. Great concert! Started with the Star Spangled Banner, ended with Stars & Stripes Forever and in between had some Aaron Copland, salute to George M. Cohan, Armed Forces Salute, some Beethoven, Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington, and the 1812 Overture. Very enjoyable.

Sunday we spent the day at the Cleveland Zoo. Hadn't been there in ages and had forgotten how big it is! We were there most of the day and will have to go back again to see the rest. We didn't even get into the Rainforest.

Colleen

Tulirose,

You always see large groups going threw the aquarium and afterwards we can all sit together at the dolphin show. The Inner Harbor has shops and restaurants that are inside and covered, but you walk outside to get to the buildings. We can always do that after the restaurant and the aquarium. The restaurants are in such buildings.

I'll keep everyone posted.
Tina :)
:bounce: can't wait to meet everyone :bounce:

Hi gang:

Well just returned from National JO volleyball tournament in Atlanta. The girls ran in to some tough competition in their first day pool (2 of the 3 teams we played on day one ended up playing for the championship out of a total of 64 teams). We played both of these team very close but lost and ended up in a lower playing level for the remainder of the tournament. We ended up winning our (level 3) division and took 34th place overall. The girls were still very happy to finish on a positive note. This ends the 8 month season.

Mary: My dd plays on a younger team with the same club. Her season ended a few weeks ago.

Have a great 4th of July!!!

Doug

Hi Folks,
after two uneventful flights and three movies we arrived safely and on time in Frankfurt. I managed two sleep for about an hour on the second leg. After I got home from the office I slept another 2 hours until Anja got home. Then we went to the gym, ran 2 miles and did an hour of The Pump. Then we went to a local pub to meet with some of my classmates from '83 to do the final planning of next week's class reunion. As I'm getting closer to zombie-status from minute to minute, I'll call it a day now and get some real sleep ;) I hope that today's training routine made me tired enough too switch back to CET.

Shari,
I got 5 or 6 pics so far. As soon as the Class Reunion is done I'll start working on the homepage.
