Cruise 10/11/2003 Part 2

Okay . . I am here. Still prefer to stay <I>mostly</I> in lurking mode with a few exceptions. :smooth:

My DH departs 17 April for flyfishing on some remote island in Tahiti. He isn't too worried about SARS since heading in that direction, but I think I'd be wearing a mask! He gets back to ID on 7 May. On 8 May I start my long solo drive to FL where I will pretty much remain for the next year or so (with several DCL cruises booked, of course :teeth:.). So that's what's happening with me. I'll check in once in awhile.

On another note: If any prior DCL cruisers (preferably recently) have a favorite server or CM (if you <I>know</I> they are still with DCL) you'd like to add to the Favorites list on one of my sites, you can <a href="http://www.magicaldisney.com/pages/11/index.htm" target="index">click here</A> and follow the instructions that are in green below the list. Some of the CMs <I>do</I> look at that site, and it's also nice to have a list in one place :p .

I hope everyone is doing well.

Shari

We are all a bit not ourselves, lately. Not as talkative. Shari, I'm going to check out your site. I've seen parts of it before, but I always forget to bookmark it. It's one of my favorites, so consider yourself BOOKMARKED. Taihiti sounds like fun. Why aren't you going?

My sister and I are planning on going on a cruise. I tried really hard to convince her of a 7-day DCL cruise, but she wasn't game. We are going on the Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas on May 11 for 7 days from San Juan, PR. It's a Voyager Class ship like the Voyager of the Seas, so it has the ice skating rink, rock wall, mini-golf, in-line skating... . RCI has four of this size ship, now. BIG! We got an inside cabin for $699 each. All I have to do is hold down the excursion costs to make it a "cheap" trip. We are using frequent flier miles to PR. Posts of call: San Juan, St Thomas, St Maarten, Antigua, St Lucia, Barbados, sea day and San Juan. Lots of ports! My sister is a plan as you go kind of person and I'm a plan before you get there. She is allowing me two ship sponsored excursions with no veto from her. Otherwise, it's cabbing it to the beach. Boring! Well, the first hour is nice, but after that, I've seen it, done it. LOL! I like to see the history and the sites and she like the beach. Hubby stays at home.

I can't wait to compare RCI with Disney since I'm such a Disney freak. You know I'll be travelling with my Captain Mickey stuffed animal.

Tina :)

Shari ... Nice to hear from you, we missed you.

Tina ... No one is too old to have a stuffed Captain Mickey.

Have a very Mickey night.............

God Bless our Troops and the Innocent Civilians!

Great to hear from you Sheri!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Cathy, I'm here almost eveyday.:smooth:
Doing the happy dance tonight. Got a new nurse at work. She started yesterday, and I think she's going to be a keeper.
Also, I just found out that as of May I will no longer be a "team leader":( The STARFISH will be no more. We will be forming new teams, and the team leaders will be elected by the staff. Anyone wanting the postion will have two weeks to campaign, election will be the first week of May. Change is good, change is good. Repeat after me, Change Is Good.:earseek:
I try not to comment on the weather because I hate to make you all jealous. No snow, just lots of liquid sunshine.:sunny: Warm days, cool night, and low electric bills. (for now:cool: )
Got to run and take the apple crisp out of the oven. Vanilla ice cream is calling.
Later, Ave'

Shari - it is SO great to see you here. I know that you've been lurking, so I know that you've been around, but we've missed you!!

Ave - I know what you mean about the weather. It has been rather spectacular here in central FL too. That cold front over the weekend and earlier this week wasn't fun, but it's back to the sunshine now.

Sorry that I haven't been around much either. I've either been working like crazy during the day or I've been on other boards for scrapbooking lately in the evenings. But, I always get my fix of this thread at least once or twice a day.

Take care everyone and please be safe!!!

Ave .. You're killing me with the apple crisp ........... I WANT SOME!

Actually what I want is to be able to wander over to Scoops and get some of that wonderful fresh fruit ... that is after I've been at Pluto's and gotten some chicken fingers. AND I want to be doing it on a big beautiful ship with Mickey at the helm. :bounce: AND I want it NOW! (ok I'm back to reality now ... the pile of work on my desk just fell over. Darn near knocked Goofy out of his beach chair on my Zen Beach!)

GOD BLESS THE TROOPS AND THE INNOCENT CIVILIANS!

Just set the Disney Magic as my computer wallpaper to get me in the mood for cruising!! Ok..I'm ready to cruise..really dreary here today..supposed to rain and I wish it would already to get it over with!

Lancaster mini dis meet tomorrow...should be fun!!

papa..thanks for the tip on the Tennessee DOT..how cool is that to be at your computer and watch the traffic!! I will email you our phone number while we are in Nashville and maybe we could get together for dinner (Sam will not be wearing a suit and tie!!)--you can get our references from Cathy and Art!!

Am working on getting rid of one pile of filing on my desk (now you know why I am of member of the I Hate Filing Club!!) and hope to have it put away in the files by the end of the day..wish me luck!! Got to go! MJ

Cathy - A week ago today, Ollie had the wire sutures removed from his mandible and he is a happy camper. Two Fridays before that, he had the wire sutures removed from his lip and therefore was able to be free of being a conehead! He was SO Happy!! He couldn't wait to go outside. He was no longer embarrassed with that stupid thing on his head. Being the protective mommy, I wouldn't let him go outside until Saturday and he enjoyed his freedom, visited the neighbors but kept returning home at frequent intervals. He has since started to stay out longer but not as long as he used to. Thanks for asking.

.......Last Saturday on SAT CHAT, the subject of a web page came up again which would display photos of Cruisetoberfesters.............I think it was mentioned once or twice and perhaps people didn't see it, or like me, haven't found an appropriate photo to send in yet. .......... So, I think we should make this our project for the next week. Dig up and send Eric some photos of ourselves. Just make sure you send them to his AOL email address......
So, did anyone take on this project this week? Sad to say, I didn't...... :(

Hey, Tuli - I think I mentioned this before in a PM, but the <I>only</I> reason I have not submitted a photo to Eric is because I am confused about what is needed.

I think something was said in the past about "<I>the bigger the better</I>" and that he could always edit and resize the pictures. The problem is that every time a jpeg file is edited and resaved, the quality is degraded. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am not all that photogenic and need all the help I can get! I would rather send the <I>desired</I> size photo in the first place so it does not have to be resized. I am assuming he wants jpeg format since that is most suitable for good quality photos on the Web and since the file size is more workable than most other formats.

Has there been any determination regarding requested pixel dimensions (as in 400x600, 600x800, etc.) and dpi? I don't think the few of us on dial-up turtle connections are too game for sending a 3 MB file. :jester: So does anyone have any specifics? Also, are most of you going to send portrait type (face pics) or something from a bit of a distance?

Hey everybody - I also had thought about the pictures, but hadn't really decided on any of us yet. As you can imagine, we have a ton of pictures of Emily, but not too many of all of us together. I was just thinking about getting a snapshot of the 3 of us sometime. Something close enough to see our faces, but not too close, if you know what I mean.

Hello all. A quick joke: What does Sadaam and General Custer have in common? They both want to know where all the tomahawks are coming from.

Good to see you posting Shari and hope that the trip to Fl and your time there goes well.

Tuli it was 80 º here today. Katie and I sat in the car with the air conditioner running while waiting for Kathy to come back out today. Mike

You're on our cruise, aren't you? Do you know about the Scavenger Hunt tour that we have planned in Key West? Check it out on page 208.

Just respond here or e-mail me if interested. We have 54 people signed up!

Tina :)

Dan (or Scott),

Just wondering what weekend in June you will be there again. DH and I decided to spend some points and drive down. WIll be there May 31-JUne 7. We remember sharing a great birthday weekend with a friend and her DH at PI a few years back and wondering if we'll be in town again.
Couldn't remember if it was May31 or June6

Nancy

Question:

If you were not cruising with such a FABULOUS bunch, which excursions would you do as your first and second choice in each port?

Nancy - I'm pretty sure that Dan is coming down June 6th, because we were planning on meeting on Saturday, June 7th at WDW. However, I don't think that Scott is coming down. If I remember right, Scott couldn't come down because of work, or something.

Maybe we could all meet that weekend.

Kathy-- Please tell Bunny that I am glad she enjoyed the trip, despite her purse being stolen. So at least she has a good excuse for some of those senior moments. I just have them.

Rosemary--- So glad that Ollie is doing well. As for the photo, we don't own a digital camera. Maybe I can find someone who has one who can take the picture, then would just have to figure out how to send it.

Shari--- I didn't understand any of that digital photo format you were discussing. Is there a certain type of camera that I will need to look at borrowing? We have talked about getting a digital camera to go on the cruise, but havent' done any research on them yet. So nice to see you posting again. My son thinks your photos are awesome.

Nancy (CI)-- We are in WDW 5/31-6/5. Plus I Kim and Bette are there around that time. Forget the exact dates.

Looking forward to our mini meet in Lancaster tomorrow.

Mike--- Anxious to see the completed fish.

Amy--- I'm a scrapbooker also. I'm a little behind right now, need to get caught up before I go on the next vacation.

Fionna--- Has it warmed up any your way? We have a couple days of warm weather, then the cold comes back.

Ave--- Are you going to apply for the team leader job? The longer I am in nursing, the more things really don't change. They just recyle it and give it a new title. It is the same thing you did 10 years ago, but for a new person it looks like something new. So hang in there girl, before you know it you will be back to the way it was before the change.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Nancy (CE)

Hi Everyone!
Cathy, the apple crisp was horrible, soggy, and tasteless.. The ice cream melted so fast that it turned into a gooey mess. I may never go near an apple again. :jester:
Nancy, Thanks for asking, but I do not plan to apply. I have loved every minute of being a team leader, but it's time for someone else to have the honor. You are so right! Nothing every really changes. Nurses just keep doing what nurses do. Ya gotta love it!!!!!;)
Papa...LOVE the tomahawk joke. Told Cathy's joke about the "duck" at work today. Got a good laugh from the crew.
Re: Pictures for a web site...I am SO stupid about scanning/picture stuff that I should just be band from the Internet. I would like to snail mail Eric a photo and let him deal with the computer stuff, but I don't know if that is polite.
Shari: So glad to have you back.:D
Ollie is a lucky cat, because he has Rosie as a mom.

Later, Ave'

Just a quick note here regarding the photos -

Regular photos can be scanned... but one needs a scanner. Regular photos when developed can also be put on a CD which eliminates the scanning portion and then chosen photo can be emailed to Eric.

Eric and Anja should be returning shortly. Hope that they had a great time. Eric can then answer the pixel questions and snailmail questions and such, if he doesn't find too much work waiting for him on his car's windshield!

Have a great Lancaster meet tomorrow. I'll be at my all-day gardening seminar. :teeth:

Good morning all. Another day closer to our cruise and a cheeseburger in paradise. That is for all of you parrot-heads out there.

Cathy and the rest of the Lancaster meet, enjoy your day and hope that the warmer weather heads your way soon. I saw where Maine is supposed ot get some snow showers today.

Dan hope that your enjoy your trip to the world in June and sorry that Scott will not be able to go due to work schedule.

Mary where are our bouncer's? Mike
