And I was complaining when we didn't have airconditioning for a day. Luckily, it was just the capacitor that needed replacing. A $200 service call. Our neighbor had bad news. They need a new outside unit. A $2000 problem.

I still can't believe they don't have any power in some areas.

Folks,
I'll postpone today's update for a couple of days as I fear that it may not reach our "powerless" friends in the East :(
Additionally I want to give Lisa (Welcome aboard:wave: ) a chance to submit her info.
Let's just hope that the power-supply is soon restored.

Welcome Lisa!! How old are your kids? We are also driving down. We are staying at the Radisson at the Port the night before the cruise. There is a big group of us staying there. We are going to meet by the pool in the evening to meet before we get on the ship. Hope you can join us.

We got a great rate there also. I don't remember the code... I am sure some one here will remember the code. The rate was $89. Hope you can join us there too.

Hope

Good morning everyone and welcome to our new cruisers from a fellow new cruiser. I found a website that has a coupon for the Radisson at the Port for $79 that expires 10/31/03. Maybe some of the group can use this. Hey every little bit helps. It's at http://www.roomsaver.com/expandedco...=592&coupon_id=4405&state_id=10&city_id=18885

If the link doesn't work, then just go to www.roomsaver.com and select Florida and Cape Canaveral.

This seems like the cheapest rate at the Radisson right now:

WEB/HOT DEALS STD
85.00 USD per night

** FULL PAYMENT DUE AT TIME OF BOOKING ** CANCELLATIONS MADE WITHIN 3 DAYS OF ARRIVAL WILL BE CHARGED 1 NIGHT PLUS TAX. CANCELLATIONS MADE 4 OR MORE DAYS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL

You can book the $85 rate and use the coupon to get the same room for $79 when you arrive at the Radisson.

Hi everyone! We're from St. Louis, MO currently living in St. Charles, MO. Thank you for the info on the Radisson Hotel; I'll be making our reservations today.

DH and I are 36, our daughter will turn 8 the day we drive down, our son is 4, and we have twin boys who are two.

The only thing I'm dreading about this great trip is the 2 day drive down and 2 day drive back. Driving time is @ 18 hours one way.

Can't wait to get to know you all better.

P.S. My single brother is going along too, flying down with my parents, he's 38. Any single women out there?
;)

I'm able to access the $79/night coupon, but how do I get the $85 rate? Do I call them directly or can it be done online somewhere?

Welcome, Welcome Lisa and family ... Please don't get scared away cause we seem to post a lot BUT then again some of us have know each other for the past several years and then some of us we have just met. BUT WE ALL AGREE THAT WE CAN'T WAIT TO CRUISE!

Guys ... anybody cruise lately? How tough are they with checking bags and cameras and stuff? Just wondering.

Lisa ... please give Viking an e-mail with your family info so you can get included on the list and be up for the goodies we pass out at sail-a-way and the Radisson.

For anybody that didn't have any power ... take a nap today cause I'm sure you didn't get much sleep last night! Stay safe.

Rosemary ... How did Rich make out?

Dave ... How were you guys?

Dan & Don ... saw your posts.

Gotta run and do some work ... darn it!

Yeah, more younger kids joining the group. DH and I have a daughter who will have turned 2 less than a week before we cruise. And, SueEllen has a 2 yr old also.

Lisa, you'll love this group. I've been posting since last fall, and I've even met a few already. They seem like family so far, and most of them I've never met.

Oops ... Fiona ... How did you guys make out?

I just realized that I got a new puter since we cruised last and now I have to find my PACKING LIST that I downloaded ...
:earseek: :earseek:

Lisa,

I organized a group to do the Southermost Scavenger Hunt in Key West. Do you have any plans? We have 58 people from the DIS Cruise 10/11/2003. Check out the information on page 356. If it's something you'd like to do, e-mail me or respond here.

Welcome.
Tina :)

Sorry to hear you have such a long drive. We only have about 11 hours!

YEA....... got my check from Uncle Sam!! :bounce: Let's talk about an upgrade!!! :) I think it would be great to put it on an upgrade, but dh thinks we should be more practical!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Anyone chatting tonight?
If I do, it will be after 8 CST!!

Hope

Sorry to be the "New Lady With So Many Questions" but I have another one, regarding the Radisson.

I tried to get the "Internet Savers" rate, and called to inquire about getting 2 cribs in the room. I also asked about transportation to the ship. The lady I spoke to told me that if I wanted the cruise parking pkg it would be $129/night, not $105/night (we have to pay more since there are 6 of us). Is that right? I thought I read somewhere else that as long as you are a guest of the hotel they will provide you with transportation to/from the ship and don't have to "buy" your free transportation.

Ave,

I sent the information for the palo brunch via PM.

So far we will will be at Captain Marvin's on Grand Cayman, taking a taxi to Chaukonab Bay and probably mini golf and shop on Cozumel, and at this time my dd (14) is intersted in either the teen cat sail or para sailing on Castaway while the rest of us hang at the beach.

Eric - Hope the picture of the MN group came through for you..

Lisa, don't worry about the parking rate. They give it to you free, but I'm sure they will also charge the higher rate if the person is not "in the know". If they ask just say you don't need parking!
We will also be driving and we found that it is MUCH simpler to drive to the port, drop off everyone, then the driver (with no luggage) takes the car(s) back to the Radisson, and hope the shuttle back to the port. It's very quick/easy for a person with no luggage to hop on the shuttle.
RellinTwin (Mary) posting from TwinAve's computer!

I am currently separated from my DH and I am cruising solo, but although I usually do hang out with younger guys, unless your brother is into older women I don't think he'd be interested! LOL. :smooth: But I'm sure he'll meet someone of interest onboard. There always seem to be a lot of women!

We have power!! What a weird experience. Was at work yesterday at around 4pm when it went out. The power occassionally does go out but it stayed out. I had a client and didn't finish until just after 5pm. Everyone had left except one of the partners who had stayed to walk my client and myself down the stairs -- one staircase was dark and the other one only has one light but you have to go down one flight of stairs and then turn to go down the second flight and there was only light at the top. It's amazing how dark it is without lights.

Our office was closed today as the area where I work still didn't have power. I don't know if there's power there or not. Our phone system has to be reset and so far it hasn't been as I tried to call in to get messages.

I hadn't intended to be in work today anyway as last night we were going to a concert up north to see Huey Lewis and the News. It was cancelled but we didn't know that til we got there. I had called prior to leaving here to see if it was still on and if they had power. Was told that they did have power but it turns out that they were running on a generator.

Learned something -- you can't get gas if there's no power. I had intended to fill my tank at lunch time but ran out of time as I only took a really quick lunch -- will never make that mistake. We were going to stay over last night and then drive to Meaford to see my son graduate. Well couldn't get to Meaford as couldn't get gas! Had to wait until almost 3pm for the gas stations to get power to allow gas to be pumped. My ex-husband was going up and he was able to get gas because he was down here in Toronto and the power in some areas of Toronto came on early this morning. He's going to take pictures and give me some. I feel really badly about missing it and never again will my car go below a 1/4 of a tank.

Power came on at our house about 7am this morning, my brother got power about 5pm this after but his MIL still doesn't have power. They have also warned us that there may be rolling blackouts to allow them to get all the power going again.

The subway isn't running in Toronto until at least Monday and they have postponed the opening of the Ex until Monday as well.

Could not close my deals today so I'll have to sort that out on Monday. Could be interesting although I'm sure that everyone will understand.

Amazing how many things are effected by the hydro.

Hope everyone else who lost power is ok.

Fiona
