I have a few questions about CRT and DDP. First how far out can you book for this. I know normally it is 180 days out but I thought I had read that it was different with CRT. Also how do they charge you for this if you have DDP? Our trip is not paid off and probably will not be until Oct (going in Dec). Can you go ahead and book it even if you have not paid off your vacation? You don't have to pay up front if you have the ddp, right?

You will be able to book 180 days before. You may do all your ADR's on the same day which is 180 days from your arrival date. I think there is a calculator to find the exact date on this site or allears.net. You are allowed to book 10 days forward from that date and should have no trouble getting what you want. If you do not get the desired time for CRT than call 180 days to the exact day, first thing in the morning, and you should have no trouble.
Since you are on the dining plan they will ask for a credit card but will not charge it. Be aware it will be 2 TS credits for this ADR.

My question is then, if you can book your adr's for the 10 days subsequent your 180 day mark, does that include booking crt, because that is considered a real reservation, correct? does anyone know if I can at 180 days before get a crt reservation for a date later in my itinerary?

yes the easiest way to get the CRT ADR is to use the 180+10 system. Best of luck.

and yet the OP is correct in that some people cannot book a crt at the +10 say you are going on the 1st - the 10th, CRT you want on the 6th, you can get a lunch or dinner, not a breakfast at 8:10 (the first seating) IF you call at 180 days first thing from the 6th, you may find that there is a seating then!!

I know its confusing!!

others report finding seating at the 30 day mark also, maybe because of cancellations...

If you don't have any luck getting your exact time on 180 day date from your arrival, just call on exactly 180 days from the day you want. This worked for me for our trip just this past August. They hold back seating and release it on that day to accommodate those that are not staying at the resorts.
