Okay, So I will have two little boys and husband all with birthdays in June, two the week we are at DW. I made a ressie for CRT, lunch, on my husband's b-day (mostly because I thought it would be silly) but is it a fun experience for two little boys just turned 4 & 7? Is it worth it, foodwise, time, etc... We are on DDP. Thanks for any input!:thumbsup2

My son, who is now 8, has eaten at CRT twice and loves it. He was very disappointed to find out that we won't be eating there for our upcoming trip. The princesses love little boys and will usually give them kisses on their cheeks resulting in lip prints. When my son met Snow White (not at CRT) she left a huge red kiss print on his cheek and he refused to wash it off - he was five at the time. Have fun!

It will be silly :rotfl:

We took our little boys to dinner and we laughed the whole time! :rotfl2:

We felt a bit out of place there. If we had little girls we would of fit right in. But we didn't. It was funny from the start. Cindarella asked my boys if they were a prince or a pirate....my one little guy said I'm a pirate in a real rough voice. It was so funny! I think they were trying to feel boyish because they were surrounded by all of these little girls dressed up in princess gowns. They then gave the boys swards and they play fought all way up the stair case..:rotfl2:

It was silly for us. It might be for you as well.

I was the one who wanted to go there. So I can say I ate in the Castle. The boys didn't care where they ate as long as they ate. So I booked it.

I am glad that I did. It was a very funny experience. I remembered the food there. I loved the rosemary chicken and mashed potatoes...yumo!

Now for the bad news...Even though I liked the food and we got a lot of laughs from the experience that we will remember forever....I wouldn't use 2TS again for it. First time yes, second time No. Maybe if I had a little girl. They seemed to really like it. I really really liked my food but it was sloppily put on the plate. Nothing fancy for a 2 TS. At least it was good right? The ambiance I though would of been better for the Castle.

So, if you want to have dinner in the Castle it is worth it the first time. But in my humble opinion not a second... unless you have little girls who like it.

Hope this helps!

BTW the food isn't the best as you are definitely paying for the atmosphere. Everyone should do it at least once!

I am sooo easy to please. I like just about everything at Disney. We went to CRT last summer and had a great time. My 12 year old son liked it quite a bit. my 15 year old daughter liked it also. Two of the four loved the food, and the other two thought it was ok. Everyone should visit the castle once.

So the food is "okay" no different from other character meals in general, right? I don't have high expectations, I am guessing it is decent, the lunch menu sounds good... We were going to use DDP for 1 adult, and pay OOP for the second adult. I think we will have a good time. Thanks! :)

Last year I went with a 5y boy and 12y boy. The 12yo was just happy that he got to eat as much french toast and bacon as we wanted. the 5yo couldnt care less about the princesses but loved the swords he got. I think my sister and I enjoyed the princesses the most!

Funny Stories:

#1 We tried to get the boys to take pictures with us and the princesses. Our first picture was with Jasmine. The person taking the picture said 1,2,3 and on 3, the 5yo threw up his arms to raise his swords and almost beheaded jasmine.

#2 My sister is not a fan of weapons lol but figured theyre harmless swords so she let the 5yo keep them. well, those swords got us into a ton of trouble on the flight home when we were waiting at the baggage carousel and hmmm... no luggage. all of the sudden we all get a personal security escort to a small waiting room. turns out our luggage had been detained. why you ask? because the scan showed SWORDS in one of the suitcases. we literally did not get any of our luggage back until the next day because they went through every piece of our luggage by hand to search for more "weapons". Note to others: Mail the swords home!

The good news: The atmosphere is great..you can't beat a castle and our server was awesome! I think little boys will like it. My DD age 26 and I where there in October and it was so cute seing the boys and girls excited...all the princesses visit each table and the kids were very into it.

The bad news: The FOOD...My DD and I were on the DxDP and this was the only meal we truly hated:eek:

If you can think of it s an experience rather than a very expensive inferior meal, go for it...I am glad we went for the atmosphere and seeing all those happy BOYS and girls.....

Our boys enjoyed diner at CRT abd fighting with the swords afterwards. The meal itself was lovely, DH enjoyed the salad and my steak was beautifuly cooked.

We've taken DS who is now 9 - twice. He liked it - the Princesses seem to really make over the boys - kissing them, asking them if they are pirates, etc.... etc.... he liked getting the sword and all that. I'd say it's fine for boys too........... even though they will be surrounded by tons of girls --- ERRRR Princesses!!! ;)

We were on the dining plan both times and I agree with other posters.......... it is NOT worth using 2TS credits. The food is just so/so and the portion sizes were insultingly small (and no, I don't eat a lot, but DH was NOT happy). I expected SO MUCH MORE, which is why we did it a second time, we thought that maybe the first time was just a fluke....... it wasn't.

We did have great service though, the CM's were very attentive - I guess if it were only 1TS then we'd do it again, maybe, just for the ambiance alone - I mean, it IS inside the castle ( which is why we think it's 2TS credits - period, cause it isn't the food).

I'd say try it once if you just have to eat in the castle, but just keep your expectations a little closer to the reality level (which is what I should've done)!!!

As far as the portions, they will actually bring you a second plate if you ask. Or in our case, I was with a 275 lb guy and he didnt even need to ask for seconds, they just brought it to him HAHAHAHAHA.

So if you're not full, you can ask for more... you can ask for an entire second plate or just more bacon, french toast, etc.

Do they do this at dinner as well? We ate dinner both times and were not offered more - we didn't ask either as the meals were pre-plated.

Just wondering - Thanks!

Thank you thank you, everyone, for the great feedback on the question. I know it is the 2 credits, and I was going back and forth on that one, but like you say, it is the castle. And that is why I am inspired to do it, and to embarass the heck out of my DH, turning 38, on that day. I just thought it would be exactly what the doctor ordered... He is, how do I put this?, "mildly amused" that my interest in Disney has now become borderline obsessive, and if I could come up with anything that was totally Disney, and he would be totally shocked by, I thought this would be it!:rotfl: Hey, Cinderella on your birthday?! My boys will love the attention from the princesses I know, and the swords! And lunch doesn't have to be a huge meal. The selection for lunch sounds decent, and I am sure it will be just fine for what it is. We are doing dinner, just DH and I, at Cali grill that night (while boys are at Neverland Club.) So we'll have a great ending to a magical day! ... can't believe I said that. :upsidedow
