I have us booked in for dinner at CRT the 3rd week of may but am wondering if lunch there is better than dinner? My son is 8 and daughter is 11....apparently they give out swords/wands or something.....I have booked all TS meals for dinners during the week and could change this to a lunch if most people think lunch is best. I just thought for 2ts each- dinner was the best option.
Now also though I am thinking if the Contemporary isn't too far maybe we should just go to the Concourse steakhouse and skip the castle altogether...the menu doesn't seem that good for the kids. Later in the week we are booked into Chef Mickeys for our 2nd MK day anyway.
So...should we do dinner in MK or ?? If the castle is worth it I hate to not do it....it's our first ever disney trip......can't decide.
Any ideas.

I have a dinner booked. My children are soo excited about eating in the castle the food doesn't really matter. I heard the wands/swords are not anything of the overly expensive type or anything, probably not worth rearranging your plans in my opinion. The dinner menu appealed to me more than lunch and the timing as well. I am not soo sure about if we will be taking a break and if we do when so I didn't want to book lunch. I have dinner booked really early, just after they open for dinner in hopes of going there after the parade is over. I know we are going to want to see the parade.

I'll be ugly--the best part of eating in the castle is that it is in the castle. If your kids aren't set on that, there are many better places to eat that aren't 2 TS.

On our December trip, there was relatively little eating going on......There are multiple web sites that show the menus--do a google search for "disney menus." I think they get deleted if I try to tell them here. Then decide which menu you like best to decide between lunch and dinner.

We had dinner and it worked out OK because the kids wanted to go into the Castle from the very first moment they saw it. The food was just OK and you would think they could step it up a bit for the kids menu at offer something more exciting than Corn Dogs... even the Rainforest Cafe made the nuggets look like Dinosaurs (which was a big hit). The desserts were VERY GOOD and I loved the Berry Sorbet. The kids did not get any Swords or Wands and the Lithograph was ugly IMHO. We did get to see Cinderella in the Downstairs lobby and it was magical but I am thinking we will do Park Faire next time. I would wait to cancel a CRT until you see your kids reaction to the castle ... mine really wanted to go inside and I am glad we did it because of the atmosphere.
