Do you think the food is that good compared to the other MK restaurants? Is the theming inside the best of the MK places? Is it worth going even without kids? We have 2 toddlers and 8 adults in our group and know it would be pricey having dinner there, but am wondering if it's worth it. Am also considering lunch but not breakfast. (we are eating before the parks to save money) I know they have characters at lunch so it would be fun, but not sure about the cost...

What do you think?

We really don't do CRT for the food. (we got free full breakfast each morning at out hotel) But we definatly do it for the looks on our girls faces. It is priceless and so are the pictures. To me that is worth it, even if we didn't get to eat any food. :goodvibes

NO. The dinner is not "all that." It was our least impressive dining experience of our 10 day trip in 2003, at that is saying a lot. We has such wonderful food and service at all of the places we dined but found CRT (for dinner) to be overpriced and underwhelming. The location and atmosphere is wonderful, but the food is dreadful and the service was mediocre at best.

I wish I had saved the money we dropped there and put it toward California Grill or 1900 Park Fare.

Thank you for your candid response. I am happy to see the Princesses at Toon town area so we'll save some money and may possibly just go for dessert or something if it seems the atmosphere is that good.

I just had to ask since our 90 window is coming up and I know this is a hard one to get.

Dh and I had lunch there on 8/5.....I just copied and pasted this from our huge food review

Lunch at the Castle! This was one of the meals I was looking forward to so much! I was not disappointed! When we checked in, they verified that we were celebrating our anniversary. We were a little confused since this whole trip was an anniversary trip, the actual day was 8/2. We had never mentioned anniversary at all when making this ADR. When we were seated, he table had Mickey confetti all over the runner. We thought that was so cute. We had a wonderful window table. Our appetizer plate came out immediately. They could have just served me that and I would have been happy! (Can you tell I love appetizers?) There was a little salad with grilled chicken on it, fresh mozzarella, crab cakes and dumpling/fried wonton type of thing. Everything was great! I wanted ask for more! While we were waiting for our entrée, the server came back over and announced that this is what they call a Magic Moment! She presented us with a certificate and a box with CRT champagne flutes! We were presently surprised! Our entrée came out moments later. We both ordered Major Domo's Favorite Pie (Prime Rib of beef simmered in rich cabernet sauce, served with mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables, crowning a light pastry) Yummy, yummy, yummy!!!! The meat was so good, the veggies were nice and crisp and the mashed potatoes were inside the puff pastry! DH was looking at his when it arrived and commented that he though there was supposed to be mashed potatoes. He was confused when I suggested he try cutting into the pastry. All the princesses came to our table. They read and signed the Magic Moment certificate and congratulated us on our anniversary. We would have loved to chat with them for a minute or 2 but we just snapped our pictures and let them move on to the next table. There were so many children there and we didn’t want to be princess hogs! The blueberry cobbler dessert was so good. DH hates blueberries and he even like it! It looked like a fancy blueberry muffin! I forgot to take a picture of it though! Snow White came by right after it was served and I was so excited about getting her picture, I forgot to snap one of the dessert!

Jenn, it may be worth noting that Andrabell's bad experience with CRT at dinner was in 2003. I have never eaten there myself, but I've read lots of good reviews of the food from people who've been there more recently, and I'm planning on going myself in October. It may be that they have a new chef there, or have gotten their act together in some way recently. Just a thought :)

I was there for dinner in Dec. '04 and it was fantastic! Food was wonderful, and so was the atmosphere and the service. I'd definatly do it again. It is expensive, no doubt, but I think it was worth the money.

Never did the dinner, but the breakfast/lunch experience isn't really worth the money unless your kids are big princess fanatics. But that's probably true of any of the character meals. I think most people do CRT because they think the kids will like it, not for the food.

Breakfast was wonderful. Dinner was fabulous for us anyway. We are doing lunch and dinner on our next trip. CRT is one of onlt 2 resturants we are re-doing for food. The other is Le Ceiller.

We've done the Cinderella breakfast twice now..no need to do it again. I thought the food was mediocre. But, I've eaten lunch there. Loved the Major Domo Pie...so good. That was in '99. But, we did eat dinner there in August '04. My dh, who tends to be somewhat picky about his food, loved it. In fact he was a little upset with me because he felt I rushed him through his dinner there. We both had a terrific beef dinner. I would eat there again in a heartbeat. Now, ask me about Calif. Grill and you'll get an entirely different answer. I'm one of the few that doesn't like it there.

As an enthusiastic money spending, distance walking, character loving Dis Vet, I can honestly say (for me) that eating in the castle is the epitome of all things Disney. Setting that thought aside for just a moment, this dining experience has been great every time we have been there. The food is excellent (breakfast potato casserole recipe can now be found on line) and the atmosphere is royal. Children or not (and we always take ungrown and grown-up children), this is an experience that I feel is well worth the $$$. Now that there are princesses at lunch, we will be doing CRT again in less than 4 weeks!! Woo Hoo!!!

young engaged couple & we love crt. its easily the best place at mk for dinner. the ambiance is great, the food is good & the service, my lady & lord, seeing cinderella in the lobby, its priceless.

We did CRT for breakfast in Jan 2004 and did not enjoy it. We had to wait 25 minutes after our PS to get in and were in line to see fairy godmother the whole time but did not get to see her, we were seated up in the far corner and hardly saw our waiter, we were finished breakfast before we saw a princess, the food was only ok, however when the princesses did come they were lovely.
After all the complaints we will be going again in September it is a must for our family. Our dd loves the idea of eating breakfast with the princesses in the "Castle". It is all she really wants to do in Disney. We know now what to expect and will take a very relaxed approached to breakfast and hopefully will love it this time around!
