Hello...so we were originally not planning on doing CRT on our net trip, but my kids loved the fact that they got swords and got to eat in the castle, and my DS9 actually asked if we could do it again. We will also have my MIL with us and she hasn't been to Disney in probably over 20yrs so I want to show her the best of the best sort of speak and as far as I am concerned eating in the castle is just about as ionic as you can get at Disney. My question is this, my DS9 will be 10 on our trip...will he still get a sword? I don't want him to feel bad if his little brother gets a sword and he doesn't...that is just asking for trouble.
Also we will have the deluxe dining plan like we did in 2015, now when I booked in 2015 we just booked online and didn't have to worry about paying upfront for it. Lately though I have heard conflicting reports that people have been having to call Disney to book CRT if they have the dining plan so they don't get charged. Any truth to this fact?

my son will not touch this place with a 10 foot pole :( But I would be shocked if Disney left out a 10 year old like that. It's still a kid. They are interested in making more money from 10 year olds by charging them adult prices but I can't believe they are also interested in stripping the magic from them... I think they know they are still kids even while they charge them $75 or whatever it is to eat at the castle.

He will almost certainly get a sword, and if not you can definitely ask for one for him! :D they are pretty liberal with giving them out, my husband and I were given a sword and a wand on our last trip (without asking) just because it was our anniversary! As far as the dining plan and being charged, I would call just to be safe if you're worried. :D have a great time!

Thanks for the responses! I wasn't really impressed with CRT the last time we ate there, but the fact that my kids got swords while we were there is all that matters to my older son, LOL...he doesn't really care about the Princesses, all he wants is a sword and he is really into castles and such so he is excited to eat in a castle again...plus then this will give me more time in Magic Kingdom which will be good because I was having a hard time trying to fit everything it...anyways I know my MIL will be excited to eat in the castle so this will be a good thing :)
