CRT Disaster!!!

I am glad that I booked my PS's at the 90 day mark. I had a feeling with the new celebration that this would be encountered. You can always call when you arrive, people are always changing plans at last minute. good luck--

I have a CRT dinner booked at 5:20 I believe and that was the latest--goo luck!!

(may 27 - June 6)---see ya there!!

*pssst* Very little known secret is that a certain percentage of the tables are not open for PS until the day of!!

I have done this SEVERAL times. AT 7am call again if you have had no luck the morning you will be there. OR what I have done is get there the minute they open and RUN straight to the castle! I have gotten a table when I called and they said NO WAY! the day before!!! This is done so that day guests have a chance to eat there as well. They don't save many but in ALL the times I have gone there running to the castle has only made me not get a PS ONCE and that is all out of probably 10 times!

Also if you want romance try Wolfgang Puck's- it is one of the new restaurants added and is AMAZING! It is at DTD but it is really great!

I really hope this helps you out my dear

Oh and they do discourage WALK UPS but if you get there 40 minutes before they are open for dinner it is almost a shoe in to get in. I waited for lunch for 45 minutes but got in the one time my run in strategy didn't work :)

oh rock on!! I'll have to try that, along with calling every day :rotfl:

so is Wolfgang Pucks a 1 credit table service restaurant? we're staying close to DTD (POFQ) and that could be a possibility as a break from the parks!

so what time do they open for dinner exactly?

Wolfgang Puck's Cafe is on the plan and is 1 TS. However, this is ONLY for the downstairs, you can't do the upstairs (the more upscale area). I'm not sure what time they open, but if you want to go there, you need to call quick because I just made a PS there about 20 minutes ago and they are completely booked on some days. I was finally able to get a PS for Friday, June 3nd.

I'm just wondering how that surcharge thing works....

what surgcharge??

it's just my luck I won't find any spot to eat that day! I really need to find a place or pray for some magic to get me into CRT

what about. . .

brown and derby or boma-----jiko????? as a back up plan????

Shelly, if you like polynesian food, O'hana is great. They start off with pineapple bread and appetizer platter, wontons, salad, green beans, fried rice, then they bring the meat to your table on skewers, over and over again till you tell them you're full! Then for dessert you get grilled pineapple with warm caramel sauce. That's all included, they also have a la carte desserts as well. Make sure when you call Disney Dining that you mention your honeymoon, you may get cupccakes or something. They brought one for DH when we were there on his birthday last Oct, then for DD on hers in April.

yeah we've already booked O'hana, we are booked at Chef Mickeys, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Hollywood & Vine and the Rose & Crown..

O'hana sounds DELISH...I mentioned we were on our honeymoon and the woman asked what day we were arriving and where we were staying as well, is that normal? She sounded really nice on the phone and was very helpful about the CRT issue...moreso than the woman I talked to today.

yeah we only want to use 1 credit because we're already using 2 for the Yachtsman...we do have the park hopper so that's a possibility, we just want to stay in the general vicinity of MK so we're not blowing a ton of time on busses, monorails etc.

I think you should make a back-up now and keep on trying for CRT.

Your nearby options are pretty good. The Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary is a 1 credit restaurant and you can walk there from the MK. 'Ohana and Kona Cafe at the Polynesian are also both 1 credit restaurants and the boat ride is lovely. Tony's in the MK is also a 1 credit restaurant. We have eaten there twice and liked it, but you'll get varying reports on that one :).

ETA: Opps! We must have been writing at the same time. Scratch 'Ohana since you're already going there.

There is a disclaimer on Wolfgang puck's Cafe and Planet Hollywood that there may be a surcharge on some items. So I'm guessing if you get the high dollar menu items, there "might" be a surcharge. I dunno for sure though.. guess I'll find out on June 3rd.

We are trying Boma and Le Cellier, both of which I've heard good things about. Le Cellier was pretty open for tables of 4, but she said for larger groups it was pretty booked up, so we told them to split us up.

Some of my neighbors went to WDW for their honeymoon about a year ago and bought the Bride and Groom veil/hat ears. They said that they got special deserts at some sit down restaurants, I just don't remember which. So, if your soon-to-be-DH is a good sport with a sense of humor, why not get those and hope for some magic. :goodvibes

We were told to try from our hotel 2 days prior early in the AM. It worked! We got in! Don't give up yet but you might want to book PSB as a backup.

Tony's is the one based on Lady and the Tramp correct? I think that might be kind of cute, I'll have to call on Monday to check it out and see if it's open. I'd even do lunch now that day and have a counter service for dinner, it might be nice to change it up anyways probably.

At least I've learned for next time to plan WAY in advance...apparently 4 weeks out isn't enough :earboy2:

is Le Cellier 1 credit? I see on the papers given to me by AAA that it's 2 credit Signature service??

Le Cellier has been changed to 1 credit :flower:

Tony's theming is nice but we found the food pretty bland. If you like Carrabas you'll be disappointed. The Concourse steakhouse makes a good steak but there is very little atmosphere. I'm unfamilliar with the dining plan so I don' t know about the points thing. Whispering Canyon is fun and the portions are huge. We also enjoyed the food at 1900 Park Faire at the GF.

I've been trying to change the day we go to MK and get a new PS for CRT and can't get one for dinner or lunch at all. We go in just about a week. When I first was making my PS's I had to call about 5 times before there were a couple times for CRT open (someone must have cancelled).

I just called for the 5th time today and got CRT for a LUNCH on 5/21!!! It's Spectro day and Saturday(hmm crowded oh well) but at least this way my schedule is a little bit more free :) Yeah! Time to change around the old itinerary. :)

Le Cellier is 1 TS, it was changed a couple of weeks ago and is now on the Dining Plan Brochure at disney.com. Actually, many of the restaurants at Epcot are now on the plan so those could be options for you.

Oh I was told that the surcharge at Wolfgang's is for entrees over $27. (Ex. You order a $32 entree, you have to pay 32-27=$5). However, the appetizer, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage are still included with no surcharge.

As for Tony's... I ate there once and wouldn't go back. Food was blah... service was blah... and had to WAIT forever to be seated (even with a PS). Not to mention we had asked to be seated at the window so we could watch the parade and we didn't get that either.

I'm thinking Le Cellier may be a good option since there's a lot of negative feedback for Tony's. I was looking at the menu online and it looks delish.

how long would it take to ride over to Epcot from the Magic Kingdom? It'd probably be a nice break in the day, since I believe the Extra Hours that night are for MK and we plan on staying there til the park closes.

I'm still going to try for CRT though...so if anyone should know someone cancelling during the time we'll be there, let me know!
