Does the CC used to secure your reservation get charged an actual deposit immediately (if so, how much?) or is it just a back-up in case you are a no-show? TIA!

Yep - the deposit immediately hit my credit card - $45 for four adults and 1 child - I really wish my 12 year old could have stayed eleven a little while longer!

I am using vouchers to pay for this meal, and when I called Disney Dining - they said they will not credit my card till I pay for the breakfasts on that day - Hopefully they are right!

Our breakfast iss 12/24. The charge showed up on our last credit card bill.

They charge $10 per adult and $5 per child (3 - 11). They charge is within a few days. They will deduct this deposit from the cost of the meal.

They did not "deduct" it from our meal! What they actually did was make me pay the whole amount, and then they brought me cash back for my deposit. The original deposit was paid via CC, but they brought cash back to me! Strange way of doing it I thought! Costs the same either way though. It just seemed so strange that they did not deduct it from the total bill and collect that amount. I thought it was more work bringing me back the $$$ I had just handed them rather than taking the deposit off the bill LOL! The server actually took our money went to the back of the restaurant, and then returned a few minutes later with my $40 deposit in hand! Oh well, we had a great time none-the-less :)

That is strange!! Did you pay the bill in "cash" ?? That could be why they did it that way. I assumed that if you paid by CC they would deduct that amount from our bill not hand you back cash. Either way, the meal is nearly "half" paid for :D

I paid by cash, but she did not know I was paying cash when she explained how they do it! She said something like, "Here is your bill. you need to pay the whole amount, and after that is taken care of, I will give you your $40 deposit in cash." I thought it was strange, but I followed the directions. I thought why not just write up the bill like normal, and at the end show the deposit and deduct it from the total owed.

Maybe it is so people tip on the whole amount and not just the amount owed after the deposit is subtracted??? I bet that is it! I would hope most people know to tip on the whole amount of a bill and not the adjusted amount after ANY discount. But I suspect, folks who work there were concerned about this, and this was their best solution!

Also, if you're paying with vouchers, there is no money owed. We're paying for the 2 adults with vouchers and paying cash for the kids, so that could get confusing for them. I'm more inclined to think it's a matter of controlling cash accuracy. Not everyone is good at the simple math involved. Refunding the full deposit and charging the regular amount cuts down on cash handling mistakes by making it as easy to understand as possible for the cashier.

Hey all...even though we are Disney veterans we have never been to CRT breakfast but from reading the boards it seems it fills up quite quickly...can anyone tell me a little bit about it? Is it a buffet....what is the price....all the particulars...we are sailing on the MAGIC on 11/30 for 7 nights and then spending 5 nights in POR....we have done so many different dinners and my wife would love to have a breakfast like we did a lot of years ago...and I would keep it secret for a surprise...but do you think it would be too late to get a PS for say 12/9 or 12/10...and most of all do you guys think that it is worth it....although I am sure most like it....it is Disney ofcourse....
Thanks for any and all imput.....
Tom18 days to the "MAGIC"!:bounce: :Pinkbounc YIPPEE!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

They do have a real problem with people paying cash after the meal. I paid with cash too and a t first the server told me that he will take the bill up and figure the amount owed after taking out the deposit. He came back about 10 seconds later saying no, I need to give him the cash for the whole bill. I explained I already gave $25 via CC. He took off, came back and asked for the bill less the deposit. Which since I already knew what the total would be with tip, I already had waiting for him. They apparently have the vast majority of transactions occuring via CC.

TChrist05 -

12/9 & 12/10 booked back on Oct 8 & 9. You may get lucky and be able to get a cancellation or an open table as a walk up. Give me them a call, and keep calling. The breakfast is a preplated breakfast you can check the menu at http://www.wdwig.com/menu/menus.htm . The cost is $19.99 for adults and $10.99 (?) for kids.

We're hoping not to have any problems with this as we have Connections vouchers for this breakfast for the 3 adults with us. We have one child (no voucher, not a good deal) and were actually charged $40 for the deposit (as if it were 4 adults). I'm taking the credit card bill where this showed up just in case there is any problems. It would be easiest for us to simply get back the entire $40 and then pay with CC or Disney Dollars. I'll report back on how this worked. We leave next week.

Lisa
