CRT breakfast or lunch, any recent experiences?

Hi All

I have a 7:55 am CRT breakfast booked and a 2:50 lunch. I'm going to cancel one and can't decide what to do. For the cost, lunch seems like it would be more bang for our buck given the meal options and the fact it should do us for dinner as well (mostly). My kids are 2 and 5.

Breakfast is a bit more convenient because of the time and the fact that the kids will be at their best. But I'm worried about portion sizes. I've seen some pictures and it looks like the traditional egg breakfast is tiny (very little eggs and meat). Has anyone been there recently that can comment on that? Do you have pictures? I don't want to pay that much money and be starving at the end. Our little guy is free so we'll probably have to give him some of our food too. If there's so little of it I'm worried we'll all be starving at the end and feel ripped off (and yes, I realize we aren't going for the food but I don't want to leave hungry).

Any comments on the serving size at lunch? I'm used to massive servings at Disney (we're Canadian and find US servings to be large in general) so was taken aback by the look of the breakfast portions in pictures.

Thanks in advance!

I was thinking about maybe trying for a PPO on my next trip (not til 2018 so still in the "dreaming about" phase) and did some research. There is a disney food blog post about the breakfast from 2016 so pretty recent.

The kid meal looked very tiny to me (my son will be 5 months shy of 10) and he won't eat eggs though apparently they will bring you another waffle, but two waffles and some bacon I think I'd have a hard time paying a $30 premium on top of a $4.99 QS breakfast for my kid, even though it is the castle (he is not really into the princesses though so there is that). If it was AYCTE waffles and bacon I would consider it, but not for just 1 or 2 and a couple of strips. The adult meals looked better if you can stomach more lunch like stuff at that time of morning - the quiche looked alright and the beef tenderloin on top of the fritatta looked amazing!

But if you want more of a traditional breakfast with princesses I think Akershus is a MUCH better value... you will not go away hungry.

The CRT lunch/dinner menu looks more appealing to me as well.

Someone on another board did this breakfast in December and said no one left hungry. So we may keep it, largely because the kids will be less cranky in the morning. I'm still a bit nervous, but we'll see how it goes........

There are pastries in the middle of the Table so they could fill up on those? We did lunch, around 2.30 (also remember with a 2.50 reservation you'll miss FOF), we really enjoyed it, but my partner was still hungry afterwards. I don't think portions are particularly big at any time of day.

The breakfast is ok. More of a means to get in the park PPO- but that has kind of changed. The pastries help but the portions are not that big.
Lunch is very good. Good portion sizes- we tend to always get the braised pork.
The kids meals are small. But my kids are much older than yours so not sure how much they eat. My kids love the Mickey turkey meatloaf.

We love dinner there and do it a few times each trip. Great portion size. Love the atmosphere at dinner- much more relaxed setting.

We did breakfast in November - my 8 year old daughter can eat like a teenage boy and the kids meal filled her up with no complaints! She did eat some of the pastries and a bite or two of my french toast. :) We were pleased with food quantity though. It's just sooooo slooooow so be prepared for that.

Thanks very much for your feedback. Given the kids are better in the morning (we have no idea what they will be like on day 6 of the parks in the afternoon, I think we'll stay with breakfast. Your experiences helped to make me worry less about leaving hungry! I hope we enjoy it - the kids say they are excited to meet Cinderella.

We've never done lunch, but have done breakfast several times. In December we did it with 2 teenagers (17 boy and 18 girl) and we all left stuffed. They take care of you there. We love it.

Please remember- for breakfast and lunch- Pre-Order!
So much faster! No waiting in that long line- just a short line to confirm the order and pay.
