CRT breakfast or dinner?

We are currently planning our ADRs for our trip in March 2010. We will be traveling with my parents. This will be their first trip to WDW since 1977. My mom would really like to eat in the castle. We have eaten there twice for breakfast. The food was OK and we enjoyed the princesses. I have always heard more about breakfast at CRT than dinner. Can someone please tell me more about dinner at CRT? Is the fairy godmother the only "character"? How is the food? Which should we do, breakfast or dinner?

Well, it depends how important the princesses are to you. If they are not important, then do dinner. Dinner is definitely the biggest bang for the buck (if you are on the dining plan). At dinner, Cinderella greets you and you get your picture taken which is included. Then the Fairy Godmother & the Girl mice do a show, but do not come to your table.

You could also do lunch which we did a few weeks ago. That was nice. We had the first lunch seating, and we really enjoyed that. The princesses are at lunch as well.

I didn't realize that the princesses are at lunch as well. That might be a good compromise. Thank you for the quick response!

We did CRT for breakfast back in 2005 and enjoyed the food and princess interaction. When we return to Disney in December we are going to try CRT for dinner and are excited about it. We are also doing Akershus for breakfast (one of our favorite must do restaurant) and 1900 Park Fare for dinner so we will be covered in the princess department. I think it is really neat to eat in the castle....however, there is not much love on these boards about the food at CRT dinner but we are going to be our own critics.

We have done CRT for both breakfast and dinner, I and actually thought dinner was a much more special experience. Being in the castle after dark and seeing all the lights outside is really neat. Plus we really enjoyed the show with the Fairy Godmother and Mice (a lot more than the quick thing the princesses did with breakfast). If you really need to see more princesses than just Cinderella, then I would do breakfast or lunch, but if that isn't a requirement I would choose dinner in a heartbeat!

A year ago I would have said breakfast without a doubt but after eating breakfast there last month for the 2nd time in our lives, we did not like it. They changed their menu & choices & it wasn't nearly as good. The princesses were in a hurry & all the waitstaff seemed very rushed. It was not as enjoyable at all ~ especially for the price. :sad1:

We'll probably consider lunch or dinner for our next trip! We had dinner there in April/08 & it was really awesome! The show was fabulous & entertaining!

Thank you for the insight into what the Fairy Godmother and Mice do. I didn't realize there was a show. We are really looking for a good castle experience. Dinner sounds like it might be a good option.

My husband and I went in 1997 and ate, last minute, at the Castle for dinner. We still talk about the magic of that night. There is nothing like eating dinner in the castle while it's getting dark and the lights are shinning through the stained glass windows. Cinderella was there that night but no one else and back then they didn't do the pictures.

We are also going this March 2010 for our son's 5th birthday and we plan on having his birthday dinner at the Castle. He's fascinated with it. Characters or not, it is a magical place.
