Just booked Crowne Plaza Manch airport for night before our flight and wondered if any one had any views on this hotel - I don't know anyone who has stayed here. Couldn't get Marriott for family of 4, got 2 interconnecting rooms at Cr Plaza.

Any info on where best to eat dinner/breakfast near here/airport would be appreciated too.

Cheers,

Lynn

Thanks Wendye,
Oh dear, mixed reviews!! At least its not the Brittania, Ha Ha!! I'll post here of our experiences when we get back, it is only 1 night and we'll probably (hopefully) be too excited to bother that its not Disney standards!

Thank you for posting this topic. We are also staying here for one night while we do an England/ Ireland family vacation this summer. We are staying with family in manchester but have a very early flight to Ireland so we decided to stay her. Plus our disabled dd will love having a swim before bed too!
Please post an update when you come back.... when are you going?
We are doing the England/ Ireland thing from July 29-August 20.... then Disney from Oct.2 - 9..... Then back to baby making...#3 and our last!

 Now don't rub it in Lynn I'm cancelling that! ;) :teeth:

We've actually decided to get a taxi now because I got a quote for a taxi (well minibus) for the 5 of us - 4 adults and 1 6' tall 15 year old for £105 return from Sheffield! Pretty good I thought and since we will only have to be up an hour to an hour and a half earlier then we would if we stayed over I thought we may as well and then DH doesn't have to drive back after the night flight home. In fact I'm going to book it for Gran Canaria too and cancel the car park we have booked as that's night flights too!

You're not really booked into the Britannia are you - I just noticed it was virtually bottom of the list, didn't mean anything personal!!!

That's a good price from sheffield, we were quoted £250 return 2ad 2ch from our local taxi firm in N Yorks, we're about 112 miles from manchester, that's why we decided to stay overnight.

tigger2on - sorry we're not going until 12 september, so I'll have to keep a look out for your review!

Lynn I'm not now but I was booked for the Britannia at Stockport :scared1: I have now cancelled this booking though. I booked it before I read the reviews on Trip Advisor. I know you didn't mean anything personal don't worry I didn't take offense that why I put the ;) :teeth: smilies after.

Yeah it is a good price isn't it. I've had 2 other quote that came out at £150 and £160. We are only about 36 - 38 miles if you use the Woodhead (A628) for the route. Our original reason for doing the overnight stay was because if we had taken our car it would have meant that we would have to leave home at around 4 - 4.30am to allow the extra time for parking the car and all the faffing around transfering the luggage etc and we didn't fancy having such a long day (we'd have to get up at about 3am) anyhow if we take the taxi the earliest we will need to get up is 4am and we can always have a sleep in the minibus. Plus it also means my DH doesn't have to drive back after the night flight. I've booked it for this year when we go to Gran Canaria in July too because we have a night flight back from there too - due to land at a similar time (7.30am) funnily enough.
