Crowds yesterday

Does anyone know why it was so crowded yesterday (4/26), I saw a photo of people waiting to park in the parking structure and it had backed up further than I have ever seen it do so, they also opened the Simba and Buzz Light Year parking lots from what we saw when we went by, those are only opened on the busiest of days (New Year's Ever, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, etc.) Why did they need them yesterday?

We were thinking about going but we got scared off due to this high level of crowds, we have Annual Passes and don't need to go when it is that crowded.

wow, with all the heat i'm surprised anyone went!

It was flippin hot yesterday and again today. It got to about 95 yesterday, forcasting 99 for today. I did not see much going on yesterday at the park different from any other weekend, it was a zoo though.

I would also like to know why it was so crowded. We were there from Wed. thru Friday and I thought all the days were busier than I expected. I thought this week was supposed to be one of the least crowded weeks. what happened? It took us so long to do many of the rides. I was expecting not to wait much longer than 15 minutes but some rides were 30 plus. That's a lot of time wasted. We didn't even bother with the Nemo ride b/c we'd have wasted the whole day waiting on the line. People kept telling me before we left that we could do the parks in two days. I think we needed at least 4 complete days. But with the crowds 5 would've been good.

I haven't been on the Nemo ride since it's opened -- lines are just too long.

There were a lot of school groups there that I saw on Friday & yesterday, and on Friday it looked like a lot of latin-american groups were there, with radio stations. So, there was some type of promotions going on.

I am seriously now debating about going on a Sunday. I am only in CA for 2 days besides the 2 for flying. Saturday I am busy with a charity event.

They were filming the big Quinceanera reality show thing just before y'all got there, and I'm sure the families stuck around!

Bumber--from what I understand there were only 15 girls in the Quinceneara thing so I don't think they're families would have impacted the crowds that much.

Instead, I believe it was the last weekend for one of the ticket promotions (the buy 3, get 5 day parkhopper) so everyone was trying to use up their last days.

I wasn't talking about crowds, just MaryJo's comment of "a lot of latin-american groups were there, with radio stations. So, there was some type of promotions going on." Seems an awfully big coincidence for two separate promotions/events. :)

On Tues or Wed I saw a picture on micechat of a HUGE stage they had in front of the castle for it. I was glad to see the group picture without that stage! :)

Sorry! Guess I misread your post . . . .

The stage was HUGE. the castle was pretty much blocked across the front. (how they got it all down by the next day I have no idea--pixie dust?) and they had the whole hub area by the castle blocked off with barriers ringed with ferns. there were apparently 15 girls chosen to participate from all over the country. I didn't see them because when I saw what was happening I avoided the area as much as I could (it helped that we had a Ladies only dinner while I believe most of the ceremony was held). We did see the fireworks they set off (not a lot) when we were over in the NOS/Big Thunder area (in fact--might have been while we were on Big Thunder--my memory has been blocked because I was so terrified at the time!)

i drove past disneyland last night on the 5 at 9:40pm, and my car thermometor said it was 81 degrees. at almost TEN?!

I felt for everyone that was there!

We regularly go on a Sunday; really much better than a Saturday (IMHO). Mid-week is ideal, but that's not always an option.

I'd like to know why too!!! LOL It was very crowded. I was at DCA most of the day, and I've never seen it that bad.

It was hot all day, but around 5:30 we were outside for a dinner, and as long as you were in the shade, it wasn't bad. There was a nice breeze, and it continued to cool down as the evening wore on.

I guess after it being so hot during the day, anything would feel cool at night. LOL I just worry about those there today. It was supposed to get even hotter. :sad2:

It was hot but not unbearable. We went and had ad fun time. rode the canoes and played in the water at DCA. It was so worth it!!!
Then the kids came home and jumped in the pool. One in their skivvies and one in her birthday suit! Welcome summer!!!

No. Believe me, 5 days wasnt so great. Friday and Saturday were insane! Frustrating and you know you get those few people that make you want to, well, slap them! ;-) Sunday we left at about 11:00 am (after waiting for Pirates to please, please, please get up and running before we had to leave. No such luck. It was a mad house starting Friday at about 1 minute before opening. We would have had a better experience had we left Thursday night.

im just assuming that its Friday or Sat, its hot, i dont want to be at home, lets go somewhere crowds. Its been busy, not too sure why.

I looked for you . . . . didn't find you . . . . but I'll be back . . . . .

My guess is that last week was the final week for the 5 days for the price of 3 deal. A lot of people want to take advantage of that offer but they figure if they wait until the end of April, most Spring Break crowds will be gone. Yeah, spring breakers are gone, but the crowds are not.

Every year DLR has a Jan-April promotion and every year the last week of April is very busy. We went two years ago during the first week of May. I knew that it would be more expensive, but I also figured crowds would be lower.

Luckily, I was right. The CM's told me that the last week of April was insane and they couldn't believe the difference between the end of April and the first week of May.

I'll never go during March or April, even if it is cheaper. The lower crowds are worth, IMO, the higher expense.

If only I'd have known I would've gone there first and then the other parks later on. we wanted to be in Disneyland for my daughter's birthday but we could have left Wed. night. I'll have to do more homework on it next time. Don't know when that'll be. we usually go to Florida but I told my husband it wouldn't be as crowded in California. Boy, was I wrong!! Oh well, we had a great time anyway. But we could've had an even greater time without the crowds:)
