crowds week before Christmas?

DH and I had been planning to go to WDW the first or second week of december but because of work deadlines had to move our trip to the week before Christmas (dec 16-24). Now I'm getting nervous, it seems that WDW starts to shift into "full christmas mode"... discounts disappear for MVMCP. Am I going to be sorry crowd-wise that we made this switch? I was kind of hoping it would still be the off-season quiet of early december.

As you get closer and closer to 12/25, the crowds will get larger and larger. I'd suggest that you make the most of the early part of your stay. In the latter part, plan on being more a "go with the flow" kind of trip - or perhaps more appropriately, go against the flow. That is, avoid the places that are most crowded and spend more time just wandering the resorts and parks taking in the atmosphere.

We went the week before Christmas this past Chrsitmas and thought it was great. Chrsitmas Day is was horrible and we ended up just going back to the resort since we have never seen that many people at the parks It did tend to get a bit more full the couple days before, but nothing like we were used to in the summers! Christmas is just the GREATest at Disney! We are thinking of doind it every other trip!

I guess that's pretty much what I expected. I figured things might start getting a little more crowded on Friday 12/22 and much more on saturday 12/23. We are flying home sunday 12/24 so we can be home in time for christmas.

We've been there during the summer and during NYE several years in a row and I actually prefer there to be a little bit more people (more festive) than say first week of january when the place is dead. I'm hoping we picked the right time!
