Our next trip will be the first week of July. How will the crowds be & are there any special doings for the 4th? I suppose the weather will be super hot & humid...?

The crowds will be EXTREMELY LARGE. It's one of the two or three busiest weeks of the year.

And yes, the weather will be extremely hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms that last between 15 minutes and a couple of hours.

Doesn't it figure we'd pick one of the busier weeks to go. Oh well, timing fit for us to go when some friends can go too.

Weather was super hot & humid when we went in 2005 too. First week of August that year. I'd love to take the grandkids out of school sometime so we can go when it's cooler in FL.

We have been to Disney three years during that week and it is really hot and humid. The fourth was really crowded. We went to MGM the first year and the second and we got little flag pins but I don't know what they do in the other parks.

Are the crowds that large for the whole month of July or is the week of July 4typically larger? We have never been in July and I'm trying to get some sense of crowd size. Is it busier in the summer than Spring break?

We always go in July. Yes it's hot and humid and you can count on some quick after thunderstorms. That being said we love going in July. The parks are open late, the parades and fireworks are scheduled for every day, sometimes twice in one night! Here's the way we keep sane. We get to the park at opening, stay until around lunch time, go back to the resort for swim/nap break, go back to the park (or nearby resort) for dinner and do the night time activities (Fantasmic, Illuminations, Spectro, etc.).

All three of the parks have special fireworks on the 4th. I'd say just avoid MK on the 4th and you should be fine. We usually go to EPCOT and I've heard people say that AK and MGM were not too bad on the 4th. Have a wonderful trip - we'll be there for the 4th also!

The week of July 4 is generally the busiest week of the summer. The rest of July is pretty busy too, but not as bad as the first week.

When we went right after the 4th of July way back in 1996 it was, like all have said, very hot and humid. We scheduled most of lunches at TS and each time we came out from lunch, it had already rained out while were relaxing and eating. We were lucky each and every time! One thing I wish we had at that time was a mister fan. It will be a must on our next trip in June.
