Crowds - TOT 10 Miler

Hi everyone,

I just noticed that this event will be on during the weekend of 4-6 Oct which is during the middle of my stay.

I won't be doing the race, but I'm curious how this event affects the general crowds and transport around WDW.

I'd appreciate any feedback from anyone who's been in the parks over this weekend or during any other race event.

Short summary: not much effect on crowds.

I went to the MK the day after the race and I have NEVER seen it so empty. Go and enjoy!

As far as the runDisney events go, it's one of the lesser attended. A 10 miler just doesn't have the same cache to some people as a half marathon does. And since the race starts late at night, there shouldn't really be any traffic issues.

Last year was the inaugural event. It may be slightly more popular this year, but it still will not be super popular, especially so early in the year (still very hot for runners, even for a night race). Plus, races typically don't impact the parks much, even the marathon, which brought 65,000 runners barely impacted the parks and I would estimate this race at closer to 15,000 runners.
I would expect the host resorts to be busier and DHS will close early/not have F! that night, otherwise, no big deal.

We were told Oct 4-6 as well.

I checked the dates on the Run Disney website. I believe the race itself is on the 5th.

something changed since I wrote the date down on my calendar after the last race ... it IS in October! DH can run it again

They changed the dates, it's the first weekend in October 2013. 10/4-10/5

Go to HS the day of the race if you can, the park closes early so the crowds, not that there are many, are even lower that day. We went to HS the day of the race this past year and the low crowds were awesome!!
