Crowds this week

Doing a weekend trip this weekend. Flying in Friday night and out Monday morning. Just want to see Epcot Saturday and MK Sunday.

We were down for Labor Day Weekend and did the parks Sat, Sun, Mon....will be interesting to see how the jump from 25% to 35% changes things.

Not bothered at all about the lack of social distances.

We just got back. More busy than we hoped it would be, but yeah, weekdays were fine. Tough social distancing at times but not bad by any means. Weekends were a joke. Just packed with people. No social distancing going on and you couldn't even if you wanted to. Here's Magic Kingdom at 11:00 am on Saturday.

That looks awful.
Looks like a normal Disney crowd

I’m at Pop

DHS
I had a 7:50 ADR at Trattoria al Forno, I drove to the Boardwalk and walked to DHS after breakfast. I was seated closer to 7:30.

MK
I took the first bus. I got to the stop at 6:30 and was the third party in line. The bus came at 6:45.

Epcot
I took the Skyliner to DHS 9:50(ish) and walked from the Studios.

They let you park at Boardwalk?

I had a dining reservation. The guard checked my MagicBand but didn’t give me a time limit. I don’t think they’re worrying about time right now, at least not at Boardwalk. The parking lot was very, very empty. I parked at the back and when I returned close to four hours later it was still sitting there in solitary splendor. I should have taken a picture.

We did the same thing Thanksgiving week when DGD was along and Frozen was an absolute must do thing. We were out before our three hours were up that time but the lot was empty then too.

to check park availability go here, it is completely full when there are no passes left for any of the 3 tiers

how can you check by tier? I only see one calendar when I look at that link. Nevermind! Just noticed the bars above to pick the tier.

Going to be at the parks Mon to Wed this week (12/14-16) - are the weekdays still manageable?

TIA!

We were at MK yesterday (tues) and EP today and found it very manageable.

We are not early risers and got to MK about 11 and did almost every ride plus quick service lunch by closing at 8. Did not do space because it hurts my back; it was showing 30 min most times. Also did not shop, and ate dinner after we left the park. We did stop twice for dole whip, though. :-)

Waits were inflated - BTMRR said 40 and was 25, SDMT said 60 and was 35, HM said 30 and was walk on. Got caught in a cleaning cycle at jingle cruise and barnstormer so those were accurate. Found distancing relatively easy, and choke points were not as bad IRL as they look in pix.

EP today we were at from 12-8. Mostly ate around the world; longest food line we waited in was 5 minutes max. Went into the french bakery and no one was there. We were able to find tables to eat at with no problem, which is very unusual; usually it's so crowded we eat on garbage cans.

Soarin was listed 20 min, but was walk on, as was livin with the land, and nemo. Got caught in cleaning cycle at SE so that took 20 min, which was our longest wait of the day, as we did not do frozen. Planned to do TT on the way out but it was down, but most of the day it had been listed as 40-50 minutes.

Overall, we are really happy with how much we got done, and how easy it was to distance properly. Tbh, it's much better than i expected.

Awesome!

We had a telemed visit with my son's ADHD doctor on Tue. She said she thought WDW / Uni were probably safer than the stores here in town. She was not at all concerned with the chokepoints, since the very nature of the walkways means no one is in close contact with someone outside their party for the 15+ min needed to infect. Plus they are almost all outside.

So glad we did not cancel! Now I've got to get all of us packed and organized!

The first 1-1 1/2 hours are golden.
Then the lines build.
We were at MK yesterday by 8:30 and some rides weren't opened yet, but I got on Peter pan (walk on), then HM was opened (walk on).
Slight wait at jungle cruise, walk on pirates, 2 more walk one at HM.
9:30.....lines building. Walked on Ariel and waited 15 minutes for small world.
By then lines were !onger than I will wait in.
As usual since we've been here we left after an early !unch.

I have been watching the WDPRD available calendar for 2 weeks now and there were a lot of days that all of them were not available (especially Hollywood and sometimes AK). But I just looked and they all showed available. Why would they all of a sudden be available? I wanted to do Hollywood on a week day to avoid the crowds on the weekend, but the only time it was available was the weekend when I booked. So sad.

Are you able to rearrange your park passes so HS is now on an available weekday?

It still shows availability for a week day now. I'm just not understanding this "online" stuff. I have 3 day tickets and made reservations for the 3 parks we are visiting. How do I get the tickets to present to them? Have they done away with the tickets? Do I just show them my app that shows the reservation?

I'm not sure how to go about all this.

Not sure how the rest of the park looked, but that looks like more than 35% capacity.

35% really doesn't mean actual 35% of typical crowds.

Just throwing out some numbers:

The 35% Capacity Represented by Normal Crowds vs % of Capacity
AK - 63%, MK - 55%, HS - 51%, Epcot - 30%

Math: Park Capacity (Average Crowd)
MK - 100k (55k avg crowd)
AK - 60k (38k)
HS - 60k (31k)
Epcot - 110k (34k)

Current crowds if at capacity for 35% would be X% of normal crowds:
AK - 56%, MK - 63%, HS - 65%, Epcot - 116%

your tickets are attached to your magic band. That is what gets you into everything. Magical express, your room, your entry into a park and I assume to ride ROTR with a boarding group.
Have t done it yet but I believe Even dining now for mobile orders?

If you are expecting a physical ticket (I didn't even know Disney did that), I recommend calling (407) 566-4985. My tickets are always on My Disney Experience App, and the tickets are linked to my magic band. If I ever forget my magic band, I simply stop by the ticket booth at my first park I'm visiting and ask for a card. Calling will probably give you a faster response. If you would like, you can also ask the cast member if they can rearrange your park passes for you. They should be able to take care of it no problem.

Do you have resort on property reservations?
Magic Band ...
otherwise you will have to go to guest services to validate entry.
I happened to be at Disney Springs yesterday, GS was no lines and 3 castmembers doing nothing... So I got plastic card entry for my family arriving on 23rd.
Also “saved” photo image in case they are lost. I like the old fashion way.

The lines look long because:
a) social distancing markers make the queues spill on to walkways
b) some attractions themselves are not running at full capacity to allow for social distancing
c) the lack of meet and greets and shows makes for everyone to go to attractions as the only thing to do
d) not all the stores and restaurants are open

Anyone coming now need to have realistic expectations, the park experience is very different of the one pre covid

I agree. The crowds in the parks look and feel like pre-Covid sized crowds because of all of the precautions taken on the attractions that are open. Tower of Terror is only loading the 1st row and the last row. There are plexiglass partitions in between some of the seats. Essentially, it looks like each car is loading at 40% capacity.

Test Track is running cars for each party. We saw cars coming back with just 1 person in them!

Lines to get in stores and the lines to get in queue are all spaced at 6 feet apart. Dining options are also limited and from what we have seen, the restaurants that are open have modified their menus.

It’s a really different experience right now unfortunately.
