Crowds this week

At the beach club before leaving tomorrow morning :(.

I just wanted to say that I've been here since last Wednesday and have been utterly shocked at the low crowd levels based on the reports I've read on here. I spent at least 3 hours at food and wine everyday including Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday nights and lines were easy to manage and plenty of food. (I was there Saturday night too but it was for the wine and dine after party so doesn't really count). It was hot but people were friendly and well behaved- saw some questionable shirts but no one was acting drunk.

My only complain was I came for race weekend and the half marathon event was managed very poorly IMO. That and my magic bands hardly ever worked despite five trips to the front desk.

I was expecting a totally different experience based I what I'd read on here - I skipped food and wine last year because my kids were 9 months old and I'm glad the festival is as much fun as ever.

We've been here all week. We thought the crowds were smaller than we expected, except Saturday afternoon at the World Showcase, but even that was manageable and not terrible. We saw some large groups that were a bit on the rowdy size, but they didn't seem obnoxious and drunk, just a bit loud and rowdy.

I don't have any personal knowledge about the half marathon, but someone I talked to said it was delayed and shortned because of all the Lightning on Saturday night.

And yes, it was much hotter than we expected this week

I had heard that it was light crowds right now. I have always said the beginning of November is the best time to go both crowd and wether wise.

The initial delay was because of lightening but shortening the race is what I was most upset about- they were telling people the reason the course was shortened was to ensure everyone got the same amount of time at the after party as they otherwise would have... In other words they wanted to make sure we spent money... At least that's what it felt like to my family and friends spectating and the rest of the people I was running with.

We were there last week, the crowds were low I thought on Oct. 30 and 31. My dream is to go the first week of November some day and hit both parties.

The first week of November is a slow time, I heard it was low crowds today too.

To keep this year in perspective (as compared to past and future years) Veterans Day is on a Wednesday, so to make a looong weekend, people had to take 2 or more days off work/kids out of school. In the past when I have been with Veterans Day on a Monday or Tuesday, the place was packed. Spring Break level crowds.
