crowds the first week of May 2007

very excited we are traveling the same time as you from pittsburgh... I have a question, in the evening will we need light jackets??

Where are you staying?

Hi, another Pittsburgher here, we are going from 4/26 to 5/7. We always go during this timeframe, weather is usually beeeautiful, and the crowds not bad at all. Now of course when DH and I went in September of last year, it was much less crowded, however, the heat to me, was unbearable.

We love going this time of year. Perfect weather and crowds.

As far as the lovebugs go? We don't usually see them at the beginning of May but we sure did in the 2nd week of September. Not to worry, they don't bite or anything, they're just annoying. Do a search on the threads, to find out more about those lovely little critters. :rolleyes1

Hey..sounds like we'll be there about the same time! Staying at POR 4/29-5/5 and SO excited! Have a great vacation!

We will be at POR the same week! Arrive the 4/29 and leave 5/7!
Does anyone know what the average temp is like during this time of year...and if it rains at all?

Maybe we will see each other mommy!!!

As far as the jackets, it really depends on the weather forecast at that time. In the past 4 years during that week, I think there were only 2 occasions where I felt I needed a jacket in the evening. Most nights we swam until 11:00 at night, if that tells you anything. :thumbsup2 I say pack a light jacket or sweatshirt, just to be safe. I actually found myself wearing mine more in the hotel room because of the air conditioning. When we were outdoors, day or night, that Florida heat just feels so good to me after a Pgh. winter

We are staying offsite at HGVC @ Sea World. I think I saw you were flying SW? We are too. This will be our 3rd year flying with them and we have had no problems. My only suggestion is to print out your boarding pass 24 hrs. in advance of your flight. That way you will be sure to be in Line A for boarding, if that is a concern for you.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

It is usually anywhere in the 80's when we are there, beautiful weather, sometimes very hot at the parks but nice for swimming. Take sunscreen! Yes it has rained on occasion, but I can tell you this. Last year the 10 day forecast said rain for almost all of the days, prior to us going. It changed, and does change very quickly. Florida rain is usually very sporadic. The weather might say rain for that day, but that could be for 15 minutes.

Every year we have gone there during that week, we have never, ever had rain affect our plans, that's how minimal it has been. Only once in 2004 did it start to rain while we were at Animal Kingdom and it was so darn hot that day that it actually felt good and we just walked on through the heavy rain while most people were scattering. Everyone was looking at us like we were crazy. :rotfl:

So don't freak if you see the forecast is calling for rain before you go. It could be raining on one side of the park and not the other, or there might be an afternoon or evening shower. Just plan around it if possible. Enjoy your vacation! :cloud9:

Just had to break in to say another Pittsburgher here going Apr 25th through May 1st - CBR. Can't wait, can't wait

We are going to WL 4/26-5/3 (also from Pittsburgh)i. There seems to be quite a lot of people from this board going around this time. Hope it will not be too crowded. We have gone four times in May and the crowds were managable but it was VERY HOT and HUMID sort of like western PA in July. Let's pray for GREAT WEATHER and a magical time!! Maybe we will all be blessed with some "dreams".:cool1:

Works for me - did everyone get the great Southwest airfare? Maybe that's why we're all going??? My boys will all have their Pirate hats on, so you'll spot us!

I go a fair of $165, is that what you all got.. or did you do better??

Have you flew southwest before, this will be our first time with kids... any suggestions??

We got the sale fare of $49 one way. Totalled about $117 roundtrip with taxes and all. Great deal! We have flown southwest before - as long as you have young kids (I think under 5) you get to board first. If not, you want to get on the website 24 hours before your flight and get an "assignment". This is A, B or C. A boards first, then B, then C. They're pretty strict about this boarding process.

We have a two year old - so I know we'll get on first

Compared to USAir, I really liked Southwest - not that I don't like USAir, SW just seemed to be nicer seats, a bit more room, etc.

Have a great trip!

Wow, we are going April 27-May 6. Our first time going this week. Have gone first week in June and it is HOT, HUMID and uncomfortable then - also gay pride weekend at MK, which I always forgot about until I saw all the red shirts.....so, thought we'd try first week in May. We are staying 2 nights at Coronado Springs, then onto our DVC at SSR. The rain in Florida is great - lasts at the most an hour or so and it cools things off. Those love bugs are awful - I don't think they will be there our week...just swarms of them...can't wait to get there!:cool1:

This is our first trip to WDW. We too will be there 4/29-5/6 and staying at the PoP !! Myself, my husband and my 4yr old son are very excited. We're from the So. NJ/Philly area.

I'm a rep with lia sophia jewelry and actually won the trip :yay: , so there will be a lot of lia sophia gals there with there families as well.

Can't wait!!

Well actually a "transplant" living in Chicago. My husband and I both grew up in Western Pennsylvania and although we have lived here for 16 years, the Steelers are still #1 in our hearts....as are the Nittany Lions....we're both Penn State alums.

We're going to Disney from May 4-8 to celebrate my birthday. We'll look for the Pirate hats, pirate: Steeler shirts, etc. I'm sure my husband will be wearing a Penn State shirt. :cheer2:

We used to live in Orlando. Don't worry about the love bugs...they are only annoying...they don't bite.

Take care all. :tinker:

WE PENN STATE - Penn State alumna here also!

ok well I am looking at MAY OF NEXT YEAR since we will be going in September of this year. You'll all have to post on crowds and bugs if your traveling that first week in May! Pretty please remember...OH AND HAVE FUN!!!

we're going may 4-11 to vwl. it's our 30th anniversary and we can't wait! we live in nc but my dad's family is originally from pa. we have visited up around state college several times. there is some beautiful country in that area. our pa. folks are definitely penn st. fans - we've taught them to be tarheel fans - in basketball at least. have a great trip, ya'll.
