My college roommate is coming into town (from the UAE!) with her family and it looks like the most probable date to go to DLR with them is July 17th--Disneyland's birthday! Does anyone know if the parks tend to be more crowded than any other random summer Thursday because of the birthday? Or unless it's a signature birthday (like the 50th) is it pretty much a non-event?

No, I don't think it will be anymore crowded than any other summer day at DL. This is a not a milestone birthday, so no special ceremonies or events are scheduled. So, its pretty much a non-event.

The National Fantasy Fan Club Convention is at the Crowne Plaza that week. And traditionally NFFC does not schedule any activities at the hotel for the 17th, but does have stuff going on in the park. Of course that is only about 400 people, so it does not have a major effect.

I'll be in the parks on the 17th. Look out, my party of four will completely overwhelm the capacity limits. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

:rotfl2: Is there room for 2 more? My DD and I will be there too!

Seriously though, thank you OP for asking this, I was sort of wondering too!

Oh, I suppose there might just a little space to squeeze you in. Just please don't beat us to the Nemo line. :lmao:

We will be there, too! Look for a tiny baby and an over-the-top-excied three year old!

I don't think you have to worry about that...we're not really the run and knock people over kind of people. :goodvibes (this literally happened to my 15 year old daughter at Magic Kingdom...she got ran over by a stroller :rotfl2:)

The park won't be any more crowded on the 17th than any other day. Since Disney did such a great job of watering down the major anniversaries (like they did with the 50th), it's a good bet that in the future, July 17 will have less and less meaning than it did when it last mattered (1995).

Yup that's true. I went last year and the crowds were normal. All that they had was a little show going "Happy Birthday, Yay!" (well more pleasing than that) w/ characters and such.
I'm going to be there this year too during my vacation time!
