Just wondering- what you think the crowds will be like at Universal on Thursday 3/27 and Friday 3/28? It's not yet Easter but I think that it might still be considered spring break?

We are arriving on the 31st of March, for spring break week. I know many regions have spring break on different weeks, so it's hard to know what to expect.

When I phoned the hotel last week about discounts, I was told there were still lots of vacancies at HRH and PBH. Hopefully, everyone is waiting until Easter! ;)

KpClark,
As E. Jane said, spring breaks vary by region, so while there will be heavier than normal crowds, it shouldn't be unmanageable either
It's good, too, that you're going on weekdays, that will help some...

Get to the parks for opening and use the Express system...you should be fine! :)

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Easter week have had something to do with the crowds there this year? Easter sunday was March 31st. From what I understand, Easter draws it's own crowd. Couple that with spring break week, and naturally, you have one packed weekend.

I'm hoping that for 2003, because Easter doesn't fall until April 20, the crowds won't be quite so bad the first week of April. I do realize it's spring break in many regions, but surely the crowds will be less because Easter isn't until later. Or am I just kidding myself?!

THAT is exactly right E.Jane...Easter is a good 3 weeks away from that date next year, so it shouldn't be as bad as NWO experienced last year at that time. Easter is the BIG draw, and when it is combined with Spring break (which is usually in March) it can get really ugly in the parks, crowd wise!

I wouldn't panic! :)

Alex - it could be any week thrugh March or April, depending on the region. Each region in the U.S. and Canada picks it's own spring break. Here in Manitoba, the last Friday of March is when spring break starts.

Bet on large crowds for your dates even if they are weekdays. The 2 weeks at the end of March and the 1st week of April are considered Spring Break/Easter for the parks and hotels and higher volumes are consistent during these times. Couple that with the Mardi Gras Event onsite which draws a large crowd every year and it becomes clear why there is a larger crowd.

There is a rather large cheerleading competition at Toon Lagoon (IOA) from March 28-30. I know because my daughter is competing and her cheerleading gym is taking 5 teams along......which totals close to 200!!!

From what I hear it's a big competition and most teams will be staying at the Hard Rock or Royal Pacific.
