Are crowds manageable in spring if it is not the week before/after Easter?
In 2017, we get April 3-7 for spring break, but Easter is April 16.
Thinking of going then for better weather than summer.

Are we better off going in summer (summer is only mid-June to mid-July for me)?

There is a current thread someone started about how unbelievable the crowds are right now (still spring break season but a few weeks after Easter). Other posters who are there have responded, and it's basically being described as what Easter was like last year, except it's not actually Easter. As is common, crowd calendar projections were way off. I'd peruse that thread (and others like it) before booking a spring break trip for next year.

They aren't bad right now. Express was walk on yesterday and was a minimal wait today. Standby was lengthy though. Transformers was 95 minutes around noon today for standby.

From the research I have done for my personal business spring is going to be weird next year. The highest HS spring break for the areas I checked, (AL, TN, GA, IN, OH, MS, MO.. ETC) was April 2. March 25 week was also high. April 8 was fair, March 18 was fair, and March 12 was the high college week. Thats per my personal research for my business, which does not have as broad of a range as UO. I say weird because usually April 8 starts what we call "Crap weeks." Next year it's looking like it'll still be a decent week.

If you stay on site you will have the least impact of the crowds as you will get an express pass. Or you can purchase it. I recommend that for people who are traveling and have no idea how the crowds are going to be. Take a look at the power pass black out dates- those are usually when they're expecting higher crowd volumes. Mardi Gras concerts also have a very high impact on the weekends. Depending on who's playing you could have a VERY large crowd Saturday. That will not be posted for a very long time though.

Yep, stay onsite......no worries..........:thumbsup2

That's the same spring break as all the counties near me. It's always the first full week of April where I am due to a large yearly sporting event. (I'm on the SC/GA border). I think it would be manageable. The mardi gras days are much more crowded than the others. I wouldn't expect low crowds, but manageable ones as long as you avoid the Mardi Gras/concert days.

An issue with July is that not only do you get high crowds, but you also get heat. Even if you do attend a crowded Mardi Gras day, it's a lot more fun if it isn't super hot. Late June would still have crowds, as all the southeast schools I know of - in SC, GA. And FL, get out of school in early June or May.

We are here through next Thursday. I'll keep the crowd updates coming.
many will very much appreciate that !

they can get an idea of how close the touring sites are on the crowd predictions based on what you find in the parks for the wait times for rides/shows.
