We will be going Friday March 4th thru Saturday March 12th. I was just wondering how the crowds will be. This is our 1st time going in March, we usually go in September and October.

I know there is a cheerleading thing on March 12th. Any idea how this will effect the crowds.

Thanks a bunch,
Frank :wizard:

Your first couple of days should be pretty light. Then the spring break crowds will arrive and it'll be pretty crowded.

What cheerleading thing??? We arrive on the 12th???

Because Easter is so early this year, most people do not have Spring Break that early. We will be there March 6-11. According to several polls here on the DIS, most people have Spring Break later in March or even in April (closer to Easter). I'm sure there will be SOME Spring Breakers there, but probably not as many as there will be later in the month. :flower1:

I too am curious as we'll be there 3/5-3/12. I planned this week purposely around Spring Breaks and Easter. This seemed like potentially one of the slower weeks of the month because it's a couple of weeks after Feb. vacation and 3 weeks before Easter. We'll see!! : )

While it will be jam packed later in the month, you will have a lot of college spring breakers descending upon WDW early in the month.

That's actually the tail end of our winter break here in the Northeast. Our school system is off Feb 28-March 6, so you may have a few lingering Northeasterners around when you arrive. We'll be down there until 3/5, but not at Disney. We actually have our spring break the last week of April (until May 1). It's typically pretty crowded at the parks that week.

Throughout much of February and March there are many different divisions of cheerleading and dance team competitions. The main impact will be noticed at the All Stars resorts. I've been twice during these times and the impact on park crowds is really minimal.

Earlier this year we went 3/9-3/16. Everything was good for us until the 12th-- then the crowds arrived by the masses. Ride waits went from 15 minutes to 90-120++++ minutes. I do think Easter being so early is going to play a major part on the spring break crowds, as many schools have adjusted their school schedules. Just a personal opinion, but I think those 2 weeks at Easter are going to be even busier this year.

We will be at WDW from 3/6 to 3/12 following a 3 day Disney Cruise.

We usually go to WDW the second or third week of Feb. but pick the first week of March, in hopes of it being warmer during the cruise.

I finally broke down and bought the "Unofficial Guide to WDW, 2005". It lists the expected crowd levels at the parks for each day, on a scale from 1 to 10 (very crowded). I assume it takes holidays, spring breaks and other factors into consideration. It listed when we normally go, the second or third week of Feb. as a 3. I was a little disappointed to see that they listed from 3/6 to 3/12 as a 6. It was even higher later in the month.

We have been to WDW several times in the past. We are also traveling with 2 small children who don't last all day.

We are going to try and mitigate the increased crowds by planning out our day at the parks, taking breaks in the middle of the day, and concentrating on the rides and shows for the kids.
