Crowds in March

We're looking at driving down from Canada for March 15-21st, which is our spring break. Does anybody know what the crowds are like then? I don't know when most people have spring break, but I'm hoping that since spring break isn't the same for everybody it won't be too crazy then. Last time we were there was late May of 2008. We found it fairly crowded then.

It will be busy since you're not only contending with spring break from So. Cal but from the neighbouring States as well and they aren't all at the same time, they run from mid March until mid April.

Also keep in mind that the weekend will always be busier than during the week.

yup, as long as the spring breaks are spread out, it shouldn't be too horrible. We are planning to be at parks from Sun to Fri, so hopefully it will be okay.

In May we got off DCL Magic and hadn't realized we were arriving at DL on a long weekend, so the crowds were a bit surprising. I'm hoping it won't be worse than those crowds.

The general rule of thumb we use to determine crowds is to simply check the calendar! Any days where the park is open 8-12 during a weekday (or any opening time-till midnight), they anticipate it to be busy

As far as SoCal is concerned, our designated Spring Break time at DL is the 2nd or 3rd week of April.

The first time DB and I went together, he let me choose a day and I did not know to check the calendar - so it ended up being packed with HS and college kids! Whoops

this year i think that is early for Spring break. I think Disney is officially starting the high season on 3/27. The flip side of that is whether or not they will be showing fireworks/parades that early. We are in the same boat.

Yeah it'd be nice if the March calendar were up....From what I know Easter is April 12th this year and I guess a lot of California schools spring break varies every year- they go the week before or after Easter. Also I have gleaned through various sources POTC will be closed until the 21st fpr refurb, Fantasmic will run every day and the electrical parade will be down. I imagine there will be a new parade if there is one- I think the reason why Fantasmic is running so much is because the parade route is being worked on. Everything else is just up in the air-- I really wish they'd get the calendar up!

I agree jayne, it would be nice if Dl. would have their March schedule up now.
I was hoping that the ELP would be on during spring break. The last time that I had an opportunity to watch it, was when I was 11 years old. That was a while ago. he he!

DL may not have their calander up yet, but WDW does, and their extended hour times usually match up pretty much the same. That week you are going is the first week of the spring break hours for WDW, so I'm guessing it will be the same or similar for DL.

I don't WANT to know that, but I do, since my 14 y.o. sister is the "flyer" for her squad and they're going there the second weekend.

Thanks for that information. We were thinking of trying to change our days to get some weekend time there, but it might be better to be there for weekdays.

Yeah we are really disappointed about that- I haven't seen it since I was maybe 15, which is roughtly 1000 years ago.
