Hi! We're visiting WDW from 6/13-6/19. We'd like to try Universal on Tuesday, 6/15 for the first time. But I saw the new roller coaster opens a few days before that. Do you think this will have a big impact on crowds at that park? Both parks?

It's hard to know for sure, as we don't know where they will be on capacity limits at that time. There is no question in my mind that it will substantially ramp up demand. Whether or not more people will be in the parks, however, will depend on their capacity limits. At the very least, I would expect them to be reaching capacities earlier in the day. The impact on the park as a whole is hard to judge.

Was wondering the same. I’ll be there 6-20 to 6-24.
I remember seeing pics of the crowds when the Harry Potter stuff opened. Frightening....

but with crowd limits and post covid era, who knows?

We have a Universal / Disney split stay that same week. We booked before the opening announcement and could pick from most room categories at all resorts. I checked the other day and now most rooms at the resort are booked. Resort guests do get priority access so with capacity limitations, so I'd only go if you are certain you can be there at rope drop. Wait, do they call it rope drop? The good thing is there are pass holder previews and one can presume soft openings for others in May. Hopefully with a media day to get all the vloggers their content before the grand opening on 6/10.

It’s kinda busy right now....so yes I think it will be packed and reach capacity.
People are traveling now, add that pent up demand to the new coaster opening and it will be crowded.

Team Member previews for the coaster are starting today, the Annual Pass previews start Sunday (I've got a spot in the afternoon for Sunday!). I know for the team member ones they are doing virtual based on scheduled times.

We booked a one night throwaway room for our WDW trip in early August. The only thing we are interested in doing at Universal is Velocicoaster (we have AP's and have been down 3 times over the last year so don't have any other must do's). We figure the only way we can guarantee getting on is doing Resort early entry at opening and getting in line. We don't want to risk only relying on Virtual Queue. If we can get a virtual queue later that day, it will be a bonus.
