Crowds during President's Week 2006

OK ... can I get some advice? I am starting to plan for a WDW trip in Feb. 2006 (I hope!)

Anyway, I don't want to take the kids out for a full week, so I want to take advantage of the President's week that we always have off. So, should I leave mid-week the week before, or would it be less crowded the week after?

I hope you guys understand my question!

I just wanted to let you know that the week after Presidents week next year is Mardi Gras. The kids here in New Orleans have off 2/27 - 3/3. We are leaving to go to WDW on the Friday before which would be 2/24 (the last day of Presidents Week). Hope this information helps you with your planning. I know 1/2 of the New Orleans area heads to WDW at this time.

We were there President's week 2004. Parks were VERY crowded on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, got a little lighter Tuesday, and much lighter from Wednesday on.

Wow! I just got on board to ask this very same question! Just got the kids school schedule for next year and we are trying to figure out when to go. Our spring break in 2006 is right around Easter so I'd like to know which week would be a better choice...

Typically Daytona 500 is also during this week. We went Pres Day 2004 and saw so many people with Daytona apparel plus thats the beginning of peak season.

Well, if it goes in 2006 like it did in 2005, the value rates at the resorts jumped to peak rates on the thurs. before President's day so cost wise if you are staying on property, it would be cheaper to go the week before. Once you check in, you get that rate for your entire vacation.

Thanks Bob, I'm taking this advice to heart as my family must go this week too. We have decided to do Sunday (the day before the Mon. Pres. Day holiday) to Sun. We will avoid MK on Monday and hope things thin out during the week. Other threads also implied that the Thurs. before thru the Mon. were the worst.

I pulled up dates for the Daytona 500 and it is indeed Feb. 19, 2006! Speed Weeks are listed as Feb. 4-19. Could be busy!
