Crowds during May... and some other little questions

Hallo all!

I'm still trying to plan a low-budget trip to California, and now the best possible dates are May 22-27, which encompasses the Canadian holiday of Victoria Day. I believe this is the weekend before Memorial Day weekend. What kinds of crowds do you think we can expect? We'll likely hit DCA for sure one day, and maybe DL as well....

This is b/c I also want to go to Universal one day, and Six Flags as well... maybe spending some time in LA itself. But because of the low-budgetness of this trip, I don't think we'll be getting multi-day tix at DL/DCA. We'll probably be renting a car ... any advice on where to stay? Should I just pick somewhere cheap near DL and drive everywhere else? (I know Six Flags is rather far...)

Anyone know of places to get discounted tix for any of these places?

Thanks for the help!

May is typically lihter crowds but who knows how that will be this year as Tower of Terror opens the first week of May. Expect weekends to be busier than mid week.

Hotels can be had very inexpensively if you are comfortbale with Priceline. I have used Priceline very effectively and have been very happy paying $40 a night for Hilton or Marriot.
Check the biddingfortravel.com web site and how to best make bids. Dsineyland area has numerous free bids.

Other options for on the cheap is HoJo's, Desert Inn and Suites, or Carrousel for DL area. For six flags you might want to switch to hotel that is closer and save yourself some travel time.

Check out mousesavers.com for any info on discount tickets.

To be honest I would just skip Six Flags. Unless you have no acess to roller coasters where you live. But that is just me. I have only ever been 3 times (and lived in Southern California for over 10 years.
If it rains you are all set. People in California are afraid of rain (you should be too if you need to take a freeway anywhere). If there is a minor earthquake no one will go, not even locals. But almost all the rides are checked out and running within an hour or so.
Early May might be busy because of the TOT opening, but traditionally it is not busy before Memorial Day weekend. If you use fastpass it shouldn't be bad either way.
Do check out www.mousesavers.com it is a great site for money saving help.
