Crowds: Can this really be true?

We were there August 1-10 and it was more crowded than other years. The Magic Kingdom was packed, however, for E-night on 8-8, it was relatively empty. Also, we had our choice of rooms at both on site resorts we stayed at (CSR & AKL), so perhaps people were coming from off site. The other parks were quite manageable.

The two weeks surrounding Easter are the most crowded along with the week between Christmas and New Years. In fact, many who have experienced those weeks seldom ever complain again about crowds during any other weeks of the year. Other Spring break weeks are generally quite crowded but usually not overwhelming and the earlier in March the better. Week after Memorial Day weekend is crowded but actually somewhat less than a typical Spring Break week until Gay Pride week starts (usually early June; thus if Memorial day is late like the 31st, you will go from one event to the next) but even then it is still not bad. Summer weeks between mid-June and mid-August are generally more crowded than Spring Break weeks except those Easter weeks and the week July 4 falls in appraoches those Easter Weeks. Memorial Day weekend is usually very crowded but still not Easter or mid-summer like. Thanksgiving week is generally about as crowded as a non-Easter spring break week in late March with the Thurs, Fri and Sat being the heaviest.

I just noticed that Thanksgiving is part of "Value Season" for the resorts (I already knew that early summer was "Regular" and spring break was "Peak") Since our funds are not limitless, that will probably factor into the equation.
