We are coming down to Disney the week of Aug.16,2003 does anyone know how the crowds are at this time in Disney or Universal and how hot is it?:sunny:

NOt sure about crowds, but I live in Georgia and August is still a pretty hot month for us! Considering that you will be further south I would be willing to say it will be hot. We usually go in October, and while it is not blistering hot, there are moments.

We have been to Disney World 8 or 9 times during the month of August, and Universal 1 time. The 4th week of August is my favorite because the crowds drop quite a bit. The 3rd week of August is lower attended than the earlier part of the summer and crowds are manageable. However; it is usually very, very hot and humid. We usually plan our day to start very early and stay in the parks until about noon. Then we either head toward a water park or back to the hotel pool. We then return to the parks about 4 to miss some of the heat of the day. Also you need to make sure to drink plenty of water. My kids also carry those little mist stray bottles with them. Even sitting still and not moving at all (like at a show) you still get very warm. Last summer we were there from Aug. 9th - 21st., and while it was still warm and humid it was acutually hotter back in Virginia than it was in Florida. So you really can not always tell. One year we were there when a huricane came through. Give August a try though. We plan on going again this year during this same time.

Ditto DisneyVa!!!

Drink lots of water and hang at the pool during the afternoon!

I took 2 showers a day and still felt I needed more!

But hey, here's a heat beating strategy - wear a skirt like this guy;)

We did the last week of August in 2002. Crowds were bigger than we were used to in Early December but were tolerable. Make sure to plan a strategy for using FastPass.

Yes, it was very hot and humid. Plan on drinking lots of water. Some vendors will give you a cup of water and ice for free! Consider bringing one of those water bottles with a fan or one of those very small personal fans. You can buy them at WDW but are much cheaper to buy in advance and bring with you.

Also, plan on rain. It rained every afternoon when we were they. Bring a poncho. If you will have a stroller, make sure to bring a poncho or someother cover for it. Always cover the stroller when going in for a show because the rain can come pretty fast.

Hi Debs5angels,

We have gone to WDW in Aug before and it will be hot. In the 90's everyday. In Aug 2002 we found the crowds to be less then in years past but that is probaly because of the overall decline in travel since Sept 2001. I would go prepared to deal with 90's everyday and large crowds. Bring sunblock and drink plenty of water.
