I was at a site the other day and I saw it said that Tues-Thurs AFTER presidents day is very low crowds. Does anyone know if this is true? We are going to be there on Wednesday at MK and I would like to know ahead if it's going to be a zoo or not.

thanks!

This is the exact time we were there last year, and didn't think the crowds were bad at all. The thing I would tell you is have a plan. I'm amazed that most people still just kind of wander around the parks all day and end up riding 4 or 5 rides after standing in long lines. Get a plan, use fastpass, and with the crowds you will probably see, you should be fine. Have fun! :teeth:

Can't answer your question. But wanted to welcome you to the Dis! :wave2:

Oh...and by the way...We will be in the zoo with you on Wednesday! Just use Fast pass, get your priority seatings (if doing sit down restaurants) and look for magic to happen! They don't call it Magic Kingdom for nothing!

Have a great trip!

Pam

Based on MK closing hours I think "very low crowds" that week is an optimistic projection. When the schedule first came out, those days were 10PM closes, and they've been moved to 11PM closes. That's a good indication that even WDW underestimated what the area hotel bookings (and hence crowds in parks) would be.

However, if you have a plan, you'll have fun. Honestly, even without a plan, it's better than being at work/school! My brother and his family went to DL before the Rose Bowl in '04. This is the busiest DL week of the year. He went without a plan. He showed up at 11 AM. He left by 6 PM. In short, he made every mistake you can make. He was only able to enjoy a handful of attractions.

He had so much fun, that he and his family went *back* before this year's Rose Bowl. However, he *did* have a plan this year, and things went better for him.

Thanks so much everyone! I can handle crowds. We used to go in July! Last year we went in March and it was relatively crowded, but not really bad first thing in the morning. We are staying at the resort so we can go the extended hours. I didn't know the times were changed to 11pm though, that's great. Even if it is busy, having the park open that late helps. Not everyone stays that late and it's nice to be there at night. My boys don't really mind crowds, I let them take their game boys and it gives them something to do in line.

Thanks again for your help!

Tracy

We were there the same time too last year and lots of our photos look like yours.... sweatshirts and jackets! We did have some downright cold mornings that week didn't we! :cold:

I didn't think the crowds were bad either although it was Mardi Gras that week. The biggest crowds we encountered were at DTD on Monday night before Fat Tuesday, 2 hour wait at RFC! :earseek:

I recently posted a similar question and what I heard back was the weekend leading into Pres. Day was the worst (Fri-Mon/Pres. Day).

We will be there then too. I looked at the UG and it has the parks at 3 or 4 in terms of "busyness" as compared to 7 on the Presidents Day weekend itself. Easter Sunday, Christmas Day, New Years etc are 10.
I can't wait to get there!!!!

We were there last year from Sun-Sun. The only park I thought was very crowded was the MK. We were there Tues and Friday. We used our fass pass all the time and got to see everything. We were expecting very high crowds and didn't think it was too bad. We just got to the parks early and hit the most popular rides first. If you are somewhat prepared, you will be fine. Have fun!!! :flower:

Just FYI yesterday at the MK was the worst I have EVER seen the parks. More crowded than summer, Thanksgiving day, Christmas or New Years! It was wall to wall people. AK today was also a madhouse. I have no idea why the huge crowds-was it the Superbowl? Another lady said the same thing about the MK last night-the worst she has ever seen in years! :confused3

VERY COLD! WDW made a little extra money off of us last year because we had to buy some sweatshirts and jackets in the parks!
