Crowds After New Years?

Hi! Thinking about taken my first trip to DL the day after New Years Day 2009 this year. On New Years Day would hopefully be at the Rose Bowl Parade! Anyway, would be in the parks on a sun, mon and tues... i'm pretty sure the crowds would still be there on sunday, but do you think the park would slow down mon and tues?

With how NY's sits this year I think you are probably right, some leftover crowds on Sunday and as people head home less and less crowds into Mon and Tues.

THe Rose Parade and then the Rose Bowl game afterwards can bring in more tourists in the days following. Also some schools have 3 wks for Christmas break. So it just depends!

Of course it can change year to year, but we experienced mid-sized crowds on our Jan2-4th 2009 trip. I like to go when the park is empty and so i didn't like the crowds much, but it was WAAAAY better than the crowds we've seen in the past on holidays such as New Years Eve and New years Day. I'd say the crowds weren't any worse than Presidents Day in February. We rode an average of 12-13 rides per day and most wait times were under 20 minutes (we also used Fast Passes).

You'll have a fun trip no matter what the crowds are like!

I went on New Years Day with my sister and then we went again with my whole family the next day. That was this year. New Years Day in the morning was light. We were able to run around DL and get on things quick. We went over to DCA around 10ish am and more people were coming, but still not too long of a wait for things. We left about 2pm and the crowds were out buying tickets. I'm sure it got busy from there.

Jan 2 was much busier than the same time the day before. Around 10:30 the lines to buy tickets were so long they filled the space between the parks. Things that were uncrowded the day before were packed. Even the preview center in DCA had a long line waiting to get in!

We left around 7pm because it was very hard to just move around the park by that time. Hopping between parks took longer too because there were always lines to go in to the parks.

Those days were much more crowded than last July when we went for three days.

I'm glad we went to see the holiday stuff but if we went again, we would leave sometime in the afternoon.

I was there the evening of the 1st (not too bad crowd-wise, I think because it was cold and foggy). The 2nd was very crowded, IMO. On the tram the announcer said that Jan. 2 was DL's second most crowded day of the year (first being the day after TG). We did a few rides in Frontierland/NOS/Ad. Land but ended up spending most of the afternoon in CA. Came back for fireworks, got a good spot in front of the castle but waited 2 hrs. for it. My 10 yr. old nephew said he'd rather sit and wait for the fireworks than try to fight the crowds to do rides. The next day (3rd) crowds were much lighter.

I personally wouldn't go again on Jan. 2, and I've been to DL many times with crowded conditions (TG, day after TG, New Year's Eve, and others).

yes, we found New Years day, and the 2nd to be really busy! like pinkbudgie said, the lines of people just waiting to buy tickets were crazy!! we went to Universal Studios on the 3rd which was a Saturday, and it was great, went on every ride with only a few minute wait if at all, and by dinner time had seen and ridden everything! Sunday the 4th was a good day at the park, last day for all the Christmas stuff like the parade and fireworks....by fireworks time, I think so many people had left the park because it was a Sunday night, holiday's were over... we watched the fireworks and snow on mainstreet without any crowding at all! Monday the 5th was a super day...no crowds or waits for anything! rode TSMM twice because it was as close to walk on as it will be for a long while!
