Crowd predictions vs actual?

I always refer to the historical crowd calendars at Touring Plans. You can select any day and they will show you what they predicted and what they saw, so you can see for yourself what crowds have been like on those days in years past and how accurate they were at projecting.

This. I like too how I can see what the actual wait times were for different rides. I found it helpful to set my expectations and plan my fast passes accordingly.

Our experience with (full) marathon traffic was busing from POFQ to Epcot the morning of, and being stuck in traffic close to an hour before finally arriving there.

I was there in late September 2013 and the parks were empty - could walk across any street in any park without as much as bumping into anyone or having to go around. Going again in mid-September this year and hoping for the same.

Looks like I can't access the historical Crowd Calendars, Touring plans is asking for a membership.

Well, I'd be really surprised if that happened again for you this year. We went mid-September last year, and that certainly wasn't our experience. Lines were not too bad, but LOTS of people around.

How does that all work? Race is the Sat right? I thought it was done before the parks opened :( so maybe that day we do Universal?

We were bussing from Coronado to MK on Sunday. It was pretty much a standstill for a good amount of time. The detours just couldn't handle the traffic. We were trying to get there for rope drop, so we got on the bus an hour before it was supposed to open and didn't get off until an hour after opening. Ended up watching the welcome show on Pericope, then tracking wait times on the app while we sat. That was the only day there was a real issue, but I believe one of the races ended up getting canceled this year, so I'm not sure if the other race days usually have this issue as well? Just avoid early morning and you'll be fine!

This was the first time runDisney had ever cancelled a race. They had shortened a half marathon in the past due to storms, but this was the first cancellation. That said, the biggest/only real interruptions are getting to MK/ML resorts pre park open. That is simply due to their need to close 1 of the 2 lanes on World Drive that goes under the water bridge to the MK bus depot/contemporary. So they have to stop traffic, and then send a bunch of vehicles one way, wait for them to all clear the closure, then send a bunch the other way. But the runners will be clear of MK before the park actually opens, so the only real issue those two days is trying to get to that area for anything pre-park open. So a 7AM tour or something like that.
